Gunstock Wharnnie
Gunstock Wharnnie
Here is a knife I put together from parts. Since I do repair work I'm always looking for Schrade parts, in Camillus parts, so when I find them I buy them and sometimes it's years before I find a way to use them. The handles used which fit a 194OT, gunstock trapper. I think the handles were made close to the 100th Anniversary. I don't recall which series they went to, I am sure Tony or Michael will know.
The blade is from 877UH, the Pro-Skinner muskrat. The blade had the gut hook on the end originally. I used my Wen 10" slow wet stone to profile the blade flat across the bottom and I use my belt sander to remove the guthook, and lots of water to keep it cool.
The only used parts in the knife with a spring in center liner. If you look at the bottom of the knife you can see dings in the liner. That quite perfect but it makes an awesome EDC! I am really enjoying it!
I hope you enjoy the pictures.

That's a very good looking knife, Dale. How do you put your signature on? I like how clean it looks!

Very nice, Dale.
Everything about that knife is appealing. The blade shape and scales are very nice.

That came out great!
Re: Gunstock Wharnnie
Love the pics and that knife Orvet, wow what a looker and one of a kind and the thing reminds me of a Northwoods Hawthorne, which I must say is a gorgeous elegant knife and wharn IMHO. Kudos to a great frankenknife. Hope you're bringing something like that to the OKCA show in Eugene in April. Sweet idea and craftsmanship. Great to see projects like that.
