I was walking a old railroad grade above the Gila river rock picking around
when I would come to a good cut bank....came around bend bout a 30 foot high
bank and saw a blue color sticking out bout as big as a egg...started picking
with rock hammer, damndest thing I ever saw, rock wise, a pocket opened up
farther I went in and Chrysocolla rocks just kept coming out like quarters in a slot machine !!!

Septarian nodule. aka lightning stone. Found in about a 20 mile stretch of Lake Michigan shore line. I ground and polish part of it.

I know absolutely nothing about this subject.
Why are these rocks special?

When stable, I know they make knife handles out of em...I got a small
mining cart outside by the patio, and I put them in there for their color.
kinda like a cousin of turquoise the way they look, and from my take,
anything that gives ya a smile is a good thing

(Not my picture) Nice find! What strikes me is the pics that you posted remind me of Jade in the raw. Out here is the Mother Lode we have lower quality Jade thats found with Serpentine and Green Stone. Wished I new more about gem stones, but then again I have enough hobbies that I can't afford.

Well, back in Michigan for my last summer here, getting the house ready to
list and move west for good. Figured I would post the last of 4 nuggets I found
in one area...cannot wait to wrap stuff up back east here and head west..that spot
might end up giving up some more nuggets after the monsoon rains come this summer.
No feeling on earth I ever had when you dig up a piece of gold 1000's of years
old that never saw the light of day or touched by human hands !!!

Been doing a lot of prospecting this year with the plague set upon us...
gonna get all my stuff together and get a pic of it soon,
100's are here so will not be going out to much rest of summer...
only one spot I can drive up to a week or so after a good monsoon rain,
big crack in solid bedrock 20 foot long,
look for my new post on 2020 plague finds when I loose my lazies and get stuff out for pics
