A piece of WWII History

I received this item from a friend whose Father was a sailor on the USS Lindsey in WWII.
75 caliber anti aircraft shell dated 1942.

That is very nice! Makes a .50 BMG look like a .22 short. My father made a brazed-up theatre coal scuttle ashtray out of one of these in 1944, but it has disappeared. Thanks for showing that bad boy.

What is the overall length of shell & diameter of casing ?

Not a live round, but as close as it could be if you added powder and a primer.
It is 11 1/4’’ tall
Diameter is 1 1/2’’
7000 yard maximum range (over 3 miles)

These rounds were very affective in taking down enemy aircraft

Some where in my brother's WW II collection he has a 105 howitzer practice round.
