Unusual Liner Lock Button on R3083
Hi There Everyone, this is my second post here. I have an unusual Remington knife I would like to research prior to selling. It has a broken main blade as you can see in the pictures. I am wondering if it is rare enough, with the round liner lock button, to buy another R3083 and have mine rebuilt? I would appreciate any info on this knife and also I would like to determine a good starting value for an eBay auction. Also, has anyone here seen the round liner lock button on the punch blade before?
Thanks,
-john

Thank You,
John

I'm far from being an expert on Remington knives, but that is a rare knife. It will be very hard to find the correct master blade with the right pattern #.I don't know if there is anything special about the punch or if is a standard punch.Handles show wear and the spey is too.
It likely isn't going to bring big bucks because of condition. It may do best by listing it with the pattern# in the listing. That way a collector looking for a part knife will notice it.I believe starting auctions @.99 do the best.It will bring what it is worth,if listed correctly.

The R3083 is a rare knife. I have never seen a lockback like that made by Remington, not saying they didn't, just have never seen that style. My R3083 has the traditional style Remington used on there multi blade lockback knives. From the pictures it looks to be old bone and not messed with. I'm not sure what to think of your knife. All I can do is compare to the one I have.

Re: Unusual Liner Lock Button on R3083
If you guys have any feedback on the eBay listing, I'm all ears. Pics OK? Missing info? Also, is there a legit way to share the link with the rest of the folks on here, not being a Premier Member. Actually I was wondering if one of you here could share the link for me? In the interest of sharing with the rest of the folks who might be interested in the knife. I need to figure out what I need to do to post there.
Thank You,
John

Great! I have to ask if you have ever seen a round liner lock like this on a Remington before?remington collector wrote:I've got the high bid on your knife.

Yes, the R2403 uses the same button, but in that situation it's used to open the spring loaded blade. I've never saw a R3083 with the round button before but I think it came out of the Remington factory like that, maybe a worker made a take home knife .

Re: Unusual Liner Lock Button on R3083
If I'm not mistaken all the push button switches were contracted out and weren't made in the Remington factory. If that assumption is correct it's hard to believe that the parts for this knife would be setting on the shelves for someone to build one for there personal use. Again, only my opinion with no backing.

Re: Unusual Liner Lock Button on R3083
Keith, you are correct. All push button knives were contract and produced in the Schrade factory.
