Ode To The 07
Re: Ode To The 07
Not and 07 but a mini trapper fished out of the bay. I think you will like the scales Q.
Re: Ode To The 07
Q - I really like that smooth bone single blade 107 - the new grind makes it even more special ! I'm going to pick up one of the Case "Ford" 107 singles like that one of these days ... great slim knivesQTCut5 wrote:Not only is this one of the relatively few single clip blade 07s I've seen, it's also the first and only New Grind 107 I've ever seen (I have a New Grind 207, which is fairly common from the early 1980's Case Trapper Series). I believe this knife is a factory 2nd because it has a very light "X" on the tang stamp--possibly due to the ding on the grind line. Also, it has no pattern number tang stamp on the pile side.
pffffft that's not a knife ......... now THAT'S a knife !! Crocodile Dundee

Indeed I do, Floyd. That looks like some fine ivory you got. I traded my Bulldog ivory mini trapper to Quick Steel for the two yellow bone 1st ISSUE 07s I needed for that sub-collection. I think we both were happy with the deal, but now I need to find me another ivory BD mini T to replace the one I swapped!doglegg wrote:Not and 07 but a mini trapper fished out of the bay. Thanks, John. I see that blue Ford 107 for sale quite often, although usually for a fixed BIN price. If you're patient, you'll probably be able to score one that comes up for auction for a good price one of these days. I'll be sure to keep an eye out.Lansky1 wrote:Q - I really like that smooth bone single blade 107 - the new grind makes it even more special ! Another red 07W added to the pile.

It's not a Tony Bose authorized so it can't be Tony Bose Trapper Red.

This one just arrived. Always enjoy adding another 07W to the pile...especially when it's one I don't already have.

Two final drops of sweetness and my 'honey hole' is all played out; no more fish in the Bay.
Never thought I'd say this, but I think I've finally reached peak mini trapper: Mini T Critical Mass.
Was avoiding these "themed" 07s because I thought they were kind of cheesy; but, when I saw this one it reminded me of my dog, Lehua, who passed away in 2017, and I just couldn't resist. Turns out, it looks better in person than in photos...much nicer than I was expecting.
Box label shows the date of manufacture as 10/26/07, although the two "X" tang stamp indicates 2008. (OCD Monkey hates it when that happens )

Re: Ode To The 07
Oh my! The Brick Red Case Select is a real beaut. I must not be keeping a very close eye on The Bay 'cause I didn't see that one.
Yeah, except for the Army edition I bought for my Grandson and the USMC edition I bought for myself (slap the Eagle, Globe & Anchor on it and an old Marine will buy a dog t**d) I too stay away from the "themed" editions.
I did however see this Wharnie in Antique Sawcut Bone and it's on it's way.

Re: Ode To The 07
Glad you got that one, jerryd. I was watching it and almost put in a bid, but despite my proclivity for "hoarding" 07Ws, I decided that one of this style was enough (for now). But, if it had been a few $$ less at the end of the auction, I don't think I could have resisted (at least it's good that you kept it in the "family"). Super deal on a great 07W--Congrats.

Thanks ~Q~. I too thought it was a good deal. I'm glad you laid off of it. It's only coming from Springfield so I would expect it to be here on Wednesday.

I’m not positive QT, but i think that “TBT RED” is actually supposed to be “TST RED”, which is the abbrev. for “Tested Red”! Like I said, not 100%, but I have had Tested Red handled knives in the past and that’s how they were marked on the box!QTCut5 wrote:Another red 07W added to the pile.

Re: Ode To The 07
Thank you, Whittler 21, for sharing your knowledge. I never would have thought that "TBT" was actually "TST", but when I compare the middle letter to the "SS" printed on the label in the pattern number above, it looks the same.Whittler21 wrote:I’m not positive QT, but i think that “TBT RED” is actually supposed to be “TST RED”, which is the abbrev. for “Tested Red”! So, mystery solved, OCD Monkey mollified, sanity saved; a good day in 07 world.
And, just in case you missed it the first time around, and because it's truly a beautiful color which is worth another dekko (and also because I'm an incorrigible show-off), here it is again...2007 Case 6207W TeSTed Red Wharncliffe Mini Trapper.

Q if I enjoyed them the first time through why wouldn't I like them the 2nd time? Pretty bones on that knife.

Re: Ode To The 07
Been looking at that one since before they were available at Shepherd Hill. Still not sure how I feel about it. Wharncliffe is an automatic winner but the handles are............????????????? And the price is about $20 north of what I think it should be but of course they didn't consult me when pricing it.QTCut5 wrote:Factory Fresh...Hot Off The Press.

Re: Ode To The 07
jerryd: I agree with everything you said 100%.
When I first saw this knife at Shepherd Hills, I was hooked by the wharnie and didn't pay much attention to any other details. Thought about waiting for it to show up on the secondary market, but, alas, I am not a patient man and I've been '"jonesing" for a new Mini T hit for awhile now. So, the die was cast and the plastic deployed (by OCD Mini Trapper Monkey) before my better judgement had a chance to talk me out of it. SOSAD! (Same Old Song And Dance)

Re: Ode To The 07
So far, I've been able to stand strong. Right now it's a stand-off between the Wharncliffe and those handles (not that they're really super unappitizing). No way of knowing how long that will last.

Re: Ode To The 07
My friend came by today looking to do some knife trading. These aren't necessarily ones I would have bought for myself, but this is what I ended up with. The Giraffe and the Shamrock covers look a bit cartoonish to me, but I do like the clover leaf bolster stamp. I already have a Mediterranean Blue Damascus 107W, so now it looks like I have two. At least they're not identical twins.
I guess when it comes to knife trading, sometimes it's more about the fun of swapping than about the knives themselves.
