Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Mike Baker. Herr are my okca knives

Two scouts 3333 and 4783 three blade with boxes

Jumbo whittler 3933 with light etch

Tee white and blue junior 4235

Surveyor 4 blade swell center. No number

Nickel silver two blade advertising knife I believe rare. Remington tang stamps and instead of number stamped b&b
St Paul. B Levine tells me an upscale nickel silver sold by Brown and Bigalow.

Good show for me.

Here are a couple of low end knives but super celluloid handles in my opinion.

A lot of the old Remington Collectors referred to the 900 series as Scout Leader because all but the ones with the star shield had the Scout Leader Hat shield. Not official just what they called them in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Interesting , I don’t recall ever hearing any of the 900 series called that but then again I’m probably the only hard core scout knife collector in the Florida area / shows .

Thanks , Mike

By not being a hard core scout knife collector, me as well as a lot of my fellow collector friends past and living probably called it leader incorrectly. I’ve collected over 52 years and collected a little or a lot of about everything, not being an expert in any of them , LOL!! I do however really appreciate you keeping a look out for a pyremite 900 series no matter the shield. Take care, John

I can't get the pictures to show up. I think that if you click on link you can see the pictures. These knives are pretty rough, I had to dig back pretty deep to get to them. The R965 is not in this group, I'll keep digging.

I think I read somewhere that any respectable knife collection has to have a Remington Muskrat. Not that I have a respectable collection, but I have been looking for a decent one for a little while and found this one recently. Cleaned her up a bit and was happy to see the blades close to 100% and some pretty, dark stag bone. Anyone know if these had etched blades?

Hope you enjoy my pictures in which I tried to capture the complexity of this pattern, the way the bolsters are pieced and surround the spring and the thickness of the spring steel. Pretty interesting and durable design that you don't see on most knives. ::tu:: ::tu::
