Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
I love fixed blade hunting knives and have accumulated a bunch of them. One of my favorite types is the so-called Bird and Trout pattern. I have examples from WESTERN Boulder and BUCK and some others that would qualify. But I have never owned a fixed blade knife from CASE. I finally changed that with this one, a 516-5 from (I think) the 1970s. A "Blue Scroll" series. I am not crazy about the etch, but otherwise I love this knife. It has nice stag handles and a hollow grind that should make it a good slicer. Feel free to show some more B&T knives, or if there is already a thread, perhaps a moderator would kindly pop this post over to that one.

Yep, I agree... the bird and trout is a nice pattern. Here is a KA-BAR #1224 with a total length of 6". I'm planning for this one to be the first "hunting knife" for one of my grandsons when he gets old enough. Just the right size for a youngster.

That Kabar is seriously cute! A lot smaller than the CASE which I showed but probably more in line with the B&T genre.
Re: Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
The B & T is one of the very few fixed blade knife patterns I own (apart from kitchen knives, of course).
These Queens are 6.25" tip to butt...Perfect size IMO.

Those little Queens are great. I believe they were also sold in sets as steak knives.

The Queen steak knives are quite a bit longer. Here are three that I bought at a yard sale.tongueriver wrote:Those little Queens are great. I believe they were also sold in sets as steak knives.

I believe this little Queen qualifies.
And this Randall Model 8 is called a Bird & Trout (or actually Trout & Bird ) This was my first and only Randall. Had it since the late '70s.
It just hit me. I think this little Northwoods Button Hole quailifies as a B&T.

These Westerns may be a little long to properly fit the genre as it is usually understood, but it is the general size range that I prefer. The Westerns with these slender proportions are 48s, 58s, and 77s.

Probably not what most people think of as a bird trout knife, but this old Brusletto was given to me years ago by my best friend picked up in Norway, or it was given to him by someone from Norway, he couldn't remember precisely. Even though it's not a typical bird and trout pattern this knife is definitely cleaned its fair share of trout!

Just my uneducated opinion but I think the top one is a fillet knife.

Here is a West Cut, not a true Bird and Trout knife, but in the Bird and Trout family. It is a K3 pattern with a 3 3/4 in blade. Sheath probably not original, but from the time period. Not a mark or pattern you see a lot of.
Re: Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
I think these are what you're lookin' for; a Kinfolks330-3 1/2, and a case M3F SSP. Thanks

I only have two, both are Seki made, of course. The first one is a white steel Damascus made by one of the up and coming knife masters in Japan named Yuta Katayama. The other is a Moki made B&T.
