Is a Ram's foot bigger than a Sheepfoot ? I have never heard of this blade until now, only sheep foot and lamb foot. Maybe GEC's own tweak ?

Looks like a Sheep Foot with slightly extended point; i.e. curve from spine to edge is not quite as steep (but very close, not much difference that i can see).

Thanks Doc.
I'm on my phone and a copy and paste of the link is quicker and easier than messin' with trying to get a pic. For me, anyway.

Yea...your post wasn't there, when I started my endeavor of looking for an image and taking the screen shot. By the time I got done...you got me!Steve Warden wrote:Thanks Doc.

anybody know when they finna release that one..?
-the problem with society today is, no one drinks from the skulls of their dead enemies anymore..-
Re: GEC#93 Ram's Foot knife PPP 2019
I'm reading that it will be in June. I suppose the only way to know what the difference is between the 93 and 47 frames is to get a new 93 and post pics of it next to my 47 Hayn Helper. I've often thought I'd carry my Hayn Helper more if it were in upgraded handle covers, but the safety orange color delrin just doesn't go with business casual in an office setting, most days. Perhaps this will be another instance where GEC produces a new frame number that is indistinguishable (by looking at pics or drawings) from an existing frame, like the 53/54.Cletus Awreetus wrote:anybody know when they finna release that one..?
Perhaps the name Ram's Foot suggests that the blade stock will be a little thicker, a more stout sheepsfoot. My Colonial E-4 coping blade is similarly shaped, and I like the nearly 1/8" thick blade. Looks like I'll be going for a micarta variety 93 since it's a bare end handle and I've learned my lesson about larger knives with a bare end bone handle.

Waynorth Cutlery will be offering the Lamb's foot version. "European style" I like the GEC version better for easier opening. I have one arm and the Ram's foot blade was made for me. Anything Waynorth Cutlery is middle-man over priced to me.
Re: GEC#93 Ram's Foot knife PPP 2019
Not my picture and it's not a Hay'n Helper, but here's a good comparison of the new 93 & a 47 Viper. They're much more similar than I'd have thought.m0nk wrote: I suppose the only way to know what the difference is between the 93 and 47 frames is to get a new 93 and post pics of it next to my 47 Hayn Helper

Received a micarta today, it's a really nice knife, easily pinchable but not a light pull, I would say 6 to 7, has half stop. Shown with my EDC TC, this 93 may knock the TC out of my pocket for awhile.

They are more expensive but i have never been disappointed with any Waynorth knife. Charlie C. has a remarkably good sense of design for knives. They are knives that just 'grab you' at first sight. The secondary market prices for Charlie C. knives (Waynorth Cutlery) are rather nuts, very high, but original price is reasonable for the knife you get.

I checked within about 30 minutes of your post and they're gonzo. There's just no way of telling what GEC patterns are going to be hot sellers. A certain distributor who shows all their knives setting up on rough rocks has them in stock right now, but I don't want a brand new knife with rock scratches all over it. I'm holding out again.Doc B wrote:For the moment... in stock Micarta...at GP knives

Roland, I don't want to say anything that could be construed as critical about a specific distributor, but it's a dealer in pocket knives that are mostly traditional.kootenay joe wrote:Who is the 'rocky' dealer ?

Nope, it's not Frank. I haven't seen you around here before. Welcome, Airborne!Airborne 1 wrote:My guess ,he's talking about Frank and as of now he's out.
Did anyone else anticipate that the humble #39 would fly off the dealers' shelves like this? I'm quite surprised at the customer response. I mean, the sheepsfoot is one of my most used blades, but I just didn't think people would clamor after them like this. Perhaps GEC will meet the demand with more knives with sheepsfoot main blades.

Thanks for the welcome Monk.I've been around for a little while. I chose him because, well, the knife is pictured with a rock ! Not being critical,I'm sure the knife we'll get is New in tube.

TSA Knives had them in stock about one hour ago. I bought one for $69.
Re: GEC#93 Ram's Foot knife PPP 2019
I for one, would love to see more sheepsfoot blade knives. They are good old hard working knife blades.m0nk wrote:Roland, I don't want to say anything that could be construed as critical about a specific distributor, but it's a dealer in pocket knives that are mostly traditional.kootenay joe wrote:Who is the 'rocky' dealer ?

Just a question. I am new to the forum and have found it very interesting reading about the new release Lambsfoot GEC knife. They were in short supply and some members got one and others missed out. How do you find out about them and go about purchasing one, can you be placed on waiting list to purchase these sort of releases? Interested and curious.

Re: GEC#93 Ram's Foot knife PPP 2019
Trying to snag a new GEC release has become very competitive. There is a rush you feel as you are trying to be at dealer site the second the release opens to buyers. You have to grab one and checkout immediately and hope someone did not scoop you by 1 millionth of a second. First to complete checkout wins.
Not all releases are like that but are if mammoth, giraffe, stag or rams horn is an option. You need a fast internet connection. Hicks in the boonies are the loosers in this feeding frenzy.
I am slow boony internet guy. Someone more adept might talk about waiting list, etc.
Always some ebay flippers score multiple knives (How ?) and then you can buy one for double the price the very next day.
If you are a trader on stock exchange floor you might be pretty good at this.
kj
Edit: i just saw you are in Australia. Even the fastest internet connection will be slower than a USA internet user. You will need luck to get one of the high demand releases.
