Little folk art flying duck
Little folk art flying duck
Watched a Gene Messer video carving a little flying duck so here's my version. I'm not sure I'm finished yet but pretty happy. Still going to paint it.and hang it with some fishing line.i think. Carved it will my Case seahorse whittler.

Doug you're getting past a whittler to a carver. That looks super. Can't wait to see it painted. Really cool duck!
Thanks for the painted pic's. I like it even better.

Lol! Thanks. I've seen Carver's on here and other places and at a carving show this spring. I've got a long way to go. But having a lot of fun. Got this idea in my head the other day to try to make one. Turned out pretty close to what I wanted. I couldn't carve a real looking duck if I tried.doglegg wrote:Doug you're getting past a whittler to a carver. That looks super. Can't wait to see it painted. Really cool duck!

Good job!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Great job, don't eat it or you might get splinters.

Thanks everyone.

Nice duck. I like it. I think you could sell it to women. They like things like this.

Wow. And guys don't?
Seems most of the decoys on display at the Decoy Museum in Havre de Grace, MD were carved by men.
Just sayin'

Doug, I guess that little decoy helps me get in touch with my feminine side. I like it too. I think it probably has a broad appeal. What's the next project? I'm working on a chain in a box but very slowly. Hope it turns out.

That sounds interesting.doglegg wrote:Doug, I guess that little decoy helps me get in touch with my feminine side. I like it too. I think it probably has a broad appeal. What's the next project? I'm working on a chain in a box but very slowly. Hope it turns out.
Im not sure. Maybe a Canadian goose similar to this duck or a ball in a cage. I've been thinking about carving some chain links but not sure how to start on it.
Re: Little folk art flying duck
Several good videos on chain carving and some amazing ones. I saw one that a guy carved from a match stick! I'm sure liking your stuff.Doug51 wrote:That sounds interesting.doglegg wrote:Doug, I guess that little decoy helps me get in touch with my feminine side. I like it too.
