BD CATTLE KING
This Cattle King Stockman is 3rd generation BD. Fit & Finish are superior. So too is the stag which, if it is not Sambar, deserves to be. 4" inches of cutlery precision. This is a knife for the ages.

Re: BD CATTLE KING
How can you tell it is "3rd Generation" ? And what years does this cover ? How many 'generations' are the Bulldog knives divided into ?
Very fine knife for any 'generation' !

Re: BD CATTLE KING
kj, Bulldogs are considered to have 5 generations.
1st gen. 1978-1987
2nd gen. 1991-1993
3rd gen. 1993-1995
4th gen. 1996-2000
5th gen. 2000-2010
You will notice there was no production between the 1st and 2nd gen. James Parker brought it back to life in 91.
In the final years, some Bulldogs were made in the USA by GEC.
The first 3 generations normally carried the two fighting dogs stamp.
The 4th generation stamp is a standing single bulldog. This is a representation of Lucky, prize-winning bulldog belonging to Mrs. Parker.
The 5th gen will have two bulldog heads. Some however will carry the original two fighting bulldogs to preserve use of the design for the BD brand.
I determined that my most recent knife is a 3rd generation from two sources. The AAPK research file on bulldogs shows the Cattle King Stockman with BULLDOG on the shield. Mine is stag rather than the MOP pictured. And these Cattle Kings are 3rd generation. My second source is the seller, LuvStag, who is highly knowledgeable in the BD brand.
kj I hope this answers your questions.

Re: BD CATTLE KING
Thank you Gary for such a good summary of essential Bulldog info. It would have taken me a lot of searching to compile all this info correctly.
At one time i collected Bulldogs trying for the early Charlie Dorton ones. But i later found out some were 2nd & 3rd gen. Bulldogs. And now, what little i once knew is largely forgotten. Thank you for helping me out.
