Well I just blew my knife budget out of the water this month. Had to have this osage version in spite of already picking up 2 others this month but I'm a happy camper. Looking forward to watching the osage covers mellow and darken with age and use.

Nice show, Greg.
I got these two knives recently and I think they are just great knives.
Thank you, Bryan, for making this fine "Hunter" available to the forum.
I want to thank Ken and Roger for bringing forth this beautiful whittler. It's a pleasure to own.

Wonderful boat-load of really sweet knives guys! My example of "Bryans" knife is just about here. And my funky Queen "1" locking hawkbill is on is way. Other then that nothin' to report. To much work/$$ going into my bike right now to pick up more knives. I'll post em' when they drop.
Sweet knives again guys!

Today I received this "Red Deer", 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8", pocket knife. Made in Pakistan. It fits the criteria to be considered a Camillus 72 variation. It is marked on the main blade only, "Red Deer" (pictured) and on the opposite side, "Pakistan", which is too light to be pictured.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Thanks for the good words QS...doglegg...Edge213. Herman has worked on a lot of Bowies for me over the years...23 to be exact. I saw a coffin handled Schrade Bowie that Leroy Remer did with stag and turquoise. After some searching I located a spare precut micarta spacer and nickel silver guard that had been made for that project. I sent them to Herman along with the Apple Coral and Red Buffalo horn. Some years back a friend asked me to clean up a blued NRA Bowie. I had been told that the blade was black chrome, and knowing black chrome was early indestructible, started to polish it on a buffer....sure found out quick that it wasn't black chrome. Having ruined the blade, I bought the knife, stripped off the guard, pommel and stag handle which Herman put on another Bowie for me. This project seemed like the right one for that blade so it went off to Herman with all the other parts. This isn't the first pile of parts Herman has transformed into something beautiful for me, and with a little luck and God willing, it won't be the last. If you click on the second pic of the Bowie and enlarge it you'll notice a serial number DW55-37HW-1/2. Those are mine and Herman's initials and birth years and the -1/2 indicates one of two knives made. I expect I'll be getting some pics soon of another coffin handled Schrade Bowie in red buffalo horn sporting the S# HW37-55DW-1/2 Friendship Knives is what I like to call them.Quick Steel wrote:dweb, your red buffalo horn is gorgeous.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Today's mail delivery produced this. An Imperial "Deer Head" scout/camping knife. There's damage to main blade and the bail is missing. Other than that, not too bad. I gave it a minor cleaning. It'll fit in nicely with my other "Deer Head" knives.

Ouch! That's a healthy bug bite in the blade. Looks to me like someone tried to use it as a screwdriver.

Been a long time since I had anything to post here, but I stopped in at a place here that sells used guns and old knives and came out with this. Camillus Sword Brand 89 brand new never sharpened. I know Camillus Indian Stag Delrin doesn’t get a lot of love, but I like em for some reason. And the 89 is hands down one of my favorite patterns.
Excuse the reflection. I’m hand the blades and springs are bright and shiny. Not a spot one.

Hey Cuz. That one has been laying on the back shelf for a while. That's a long line from probably in the '70s (maybe early '80s). You're not the only one that likes Indian Stag.

Thanks guys. Cuz, that’s what I was thinking about the date too. It’s good to know I’m not the only one that appreciates Indian Stag. My one true love has always been the CASE XX era 6375. But there are two things that for me set the Camillus 89 above the 6375. One is the swedge on the clip blade. I’m a sucker for a swedge. The second is that the top of the clip and the sheepsfoot are flush on the 89. My older 6375’s the sheepsfoot rides lower, but it still sticks up. The newer 6375’s sheepsfoot sticks up like a rooster comb. The 89 actually feels better in hand.

TF, I’m actually one of those sickos who kinda likes the Indian Stag. Lol
Chris I’ve been out of the knife buying game for a while. But for $30 out the door I couldn’t let this one stay!

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
This came yesterday, picked it up this morning. Another Camillus 1047 Scouting knife. My third Camillus 1047 with this style of shield. It does look like the third time is the charm, as this is the nicest Camillus 1047 (with a federal shaped shield) that I've bought (so far). Nothing wrong with the handles at all. The last picture shows the 3 knives in the order that I bought them (one side only). From left to right, you can see how the handles progressed from bad to better to nice. I am very happy with this one. Click on the pictures to ENLARGE.

Probably because they're they're the Brownstag (pre-Delrin®). That was a sturdy handle material. She looks PDG (Pretty Darned Good). Good snag.New_Windsor_NY wrote:Nothing wrong with the handles at all.
