SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON

The first Robeson knives were imported by Millard Robeson from England and Germany exclusively. This continued from 1979 until 1896 when Robeson began manufacturing knives in the United States. Since inception, the company has gone through several reorganizations & eventually ended up as a Queen Cutlery brand.

I never could find a number. If there was one.... it's gone now.

::shrug::

It's a cute little joker.... sure does tote nicely!

Mike,
I've got this knife that is similar to yours. Mine is 3 3/8" closed.

Yours is an older and smoother knife.
If I can describe yours as a tear drop jack I think I can date yours at 1922-1939.

I'm not sure where to date mine. Probably in the 60s some where.
No numbers on mine either.

Lots of pin spinner malfunction. ::woot::

Joe, your Robeson jack dates 1916 - 1939.

Robeson never used such bone in the 60's.

Waukonda; that's a very nice Strawberry bone handled English Jack. They made a similar knife with a spear master blade, the 151 pattern.

Ike, your English jack is indeed beautiful.

Thank you, Charlie, for the information. One thing that made me think the knife was not older than it is is the fact that
it has hardly been handled much less used. The edges of the bone are still kind of sharp. So I thought it was newer.
Thanks for the insight. Your knife is also a real beauty. The spear is always a useful and great looking blade.

Here's a little Robeson I picked up at the show in Marlborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday. 3 1/16" closed.

I love that little knife with its sabre-cut clip blade.

I have one.

I've never seen that smooth black composition outgas. I'm not sure what it is.

I cannot access my 646 right now, but its high number makes me wonder if they are not MasterCraft or Perma-Lube knives with the Oiless Bronze Bearings.

It's worth taking a look.

Nice one, Harold. ::tu:: The 646 and the 248 have me puzzled.
With bright light and loupe I can only see the usual steel half stops of tangs in the well. Blades open.
No bronze.

I greatly enjoy this thread as, of all the production knives I have, Robeson is my favorite company. Here is a shot of a strawberry bone English jack and a spey Barlow. :D
