Working Remingtons

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Working Remingtons

Post by Remumc »

Do you carry and use any Remingtons? Here is one I have used a lot for the past year. It worked great for cutting sprinkler system tubing. It is holding up well and is probably the most common model Remington to be found so not worried about using it. Wrigley Gum promotion as I recall.

I carry a vintage Remington every day. I bought this with cracked handles and carried it till the fell off. Waiting for it to come back from the repair shop.

Here are a couple that I carry. Although the knives would be up to the "working" moniker, with my soft lifestyle I would hesitate to call them working knives. :)

Harold, I'm glad I read your comment twice. At first I thought you were promising to put me to work. ::oh_my:: :)

This is the only remington I have right now. It's been a while since I've carried it but it makes a nice user. Strong and solid old knife, and it has that special sauce like pre ww2 knives do.

Thanks Keith, it is.

Carrying it today, hope you all don't mind the schrade it's paired with.

Here is the Remington I carry. Stainless blade. I do not do much hard work with the blade but the corkscrew and caplifter work great
