Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
This Pal Brand knife has the deepest etch I've ever seen.

Picked up this Hibbard Spencer&Bartlett pen with an interesting etch " High School Store", I don't know if high schools have stores anymore and if they do I'll bet they don't sell knives.

Fabulous bone on that Sword Brand EO.
Quite a few bottles of Old Log Cabin whiskey passed through my Dad when I was a boy, The bottle label showed an old log cabin with, I think, a harvested field as background.
You should search for such a bottle to go with your knife.
Don't know if it's still made. It was cheap, else Daddy wouldn't have been buying it. Four Roses, Old Log Cabin, etc. was what he brought home. He was not a connoisseur.
Wouldn't you just love to know the story on that High School Store knife?

Thanks Charlie, that's what I love about finding an old knife with an etch, it can take a so so knife and make it so interesting, I would love to know the story behind that etch.

Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
I found six of my Keen Kutters have a stamp or etch that is at least partially visible. The Scout Knife etch is the hardest to see, takes just the right light to see it, and the stamp on the dog leg is light but similar to the above knife.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Here's my sole Valley Forge knife, with a pretty decent etch. Newark, NJ's finest.

That knife should be posted elsewhere on AAPK, Roger.
Beautiful.

Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
Picked up this old Ulster bare end jack, was cleaning gunk off the blade and an etch appeared. It has "something Steel Fully Guaranteed". Anyone got any idea what is before Steel? Searched this thread and could not come up with another example.

M.S. Young & Co Allentown Pa on a Ka-Bar fish knife. They were a hardware store that started in the mid 1800's and closed in 1964.

Does this help anyone? Could it be, "Finest?"

Sorry JohnR, the last two letters before "STEEL" look like EP or ER.

Super nice group! The R2303 is extraordinary.
Re: Vintage Acid Etched & Stamped Blades
Thanks Jerry. The 2303 has been a hard knife for me to find.
