We're going to try to get Opening Day tickets. I last did Opening Day in 2006, the second year of Nationals baseball.
Opening day is always special. Lots of ceremony and hoopla, an atmosphere second only to the playoffs and the All-Star game IMHO. Hope you can make it. And if you do, have a hot dog and a cold one for me.

Had an opportunity to tour the Rangers’ still under construction new domed stadium today. Had to wear a hard hat and other safety gear. It’s really going to be a great stadium. First exhibition game is scheduled for March 23. They’re gonna have to hustle!

Thanks for the tour Ken. I see it from the outside about once a week but no peek inside yet. Enclosed as it is I bet it will not be the home run park the last one was.
While I was there we also got a peek inside the old stadium. It has already been converted to a football field complete with goal posts and added bleacher seats in what used to be left field. It’s the new home of the Dallas Renegades of the new XFL.
It’s a shame in many ways because it’s a beautiful stadium. Unfortunately today’s generations don’t like sitting in non-AC so it negatively affects attendance.

I think the Mariners have a retractable roof.
The Mariners roof is a covering and the stadium is not enclosed. It is like a carport. The new stadium in Arlington is an enclosed stadium when the roof is closed. The Mariners can't adjust the climate where as the Rangers new stadium is climate controlled when the roof is closed.
The roof on the new Rangers’ stadium is constructed as one piece that slides on a track. When closed it will seal the stadium, making the field and seating area climate controlled. Here are some construction pictures showing the track where the roof will overhang when open.
In the bottom picture, to the right is the Loews Hotel and the Texas Live entertainment district (restaurants, bars, live music concert venues etc). In the background behind (far right) you can see part of AT&T Stadium, where the Dallas Cowboys play.

I see that Dusty Baker, new manager of the Astros, has appealed to the commissioner Rob Manfred for protection for his players during the upcoming season. He must be anticipating, like I am, that there is likely to be a LOT of headhunting of the Astros players this coming season. Seems the "apologies" offered by the Astros were not to anyone's liking? Also, some of the California little leagues have banned use of the team name Astros.

Thanks for the pictures! I'm looking forward to the coming season. I received the mlb TV package for my birthday and since we haven't had cable TV for years it will be the first time I'll get to watch the games.

The Rangers new park will bring the total of retractable roof mlb parks to 8 IIRC. I have attended games in the old parks, hope I can get to the new park soon. Been offered the use of some opening season tickets but unfortunately to accept would be a conflict of interest at work.

I’ve been a subscriber to MLB TV for several years - I think this makes my 10th year. I got the subscription because I was traveling overseas a lot for work, and it was the only way I could get the games. Liked it so much I kept the subscription after I retired. I can watch all out-of-market games regardless who is playing where, unless I happen to be in their home broadcast territory. I can see those on local television anyway. Most evenings during the season I’m watching the Rangers on television and the Cardinals on MLB TV. And I can watch other live games there on split screen as well if it’s a game of interest. Plus replay any and all completed games, or just the highlites.
They really do a great job. I think you’ll like it.

Baseball fans, if you’re having withdrawal symptoms, or suffering Coronavirus cabin fever, I just got this from MLB.com. They’ve arranged to have the Ken Burns special Baseball available on streaming video for free! You can sit in your home and watch all or part and not have to get out, or wash your hands for several hours!
MLB is running an old game between the Phillies and Cubs played in Chicago, May 17, 1979. Pete Rose played for the Phillies, as did Mike Schmidt. This particular game as I sit here and watch Bruce Sutter pitch to Bob Boone (flies out) score is 22 to 22. Anyway, the Cub announcer mentions Ivan DeJesus, the SS for the Cubs and it recalled that dreadful trade the Phillies made for DeJesus. Ryne Sandberg and Larry Bowa for deJesus. One of the worst trades the Phils ever did, maybe the worst in MLB.
BTW, the Phils won that game in "79 on a solo shot from Mike Schmidt in the 10th. His second in the game. In the following year they go to the Series and win, going through Montreal and Houston to get there, beating KC. The playoffs in 80 were some of the best I remember.
