Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Just picked this up, off the bay. The tang stamp puts it before 1948. Although there is pitting of the pinned shield...the steel bolsters and blades don't really exhibit much in the way of actual pitting. The walk and talk is great and the blades were in good shape. The stack side bone is beautiful and intact. The front side had the chunk missing. Threw some acraglas on it. Didn't clean it up...kinda like the character. For $8.79, included shipping...this is a decent knife.

..looking at those photos makes me wonder what mine would look like today-bought in 1945, dropped over the side of my boat in 1965,buried in the mud for 55 years now. when they drained the lake in 1980, I spent 2 Saturdays trying to find it, but no luck....I would trade any knife I own for it...my first Camillus!!!........ ::tu:: ...............

I've been searching for a reasonably priced military issued Camillus multi-tool/camp folding knife with my birth year and recently I found one. In very decent condition, good stamping and no broken springs.

This knife arrived today. It's a CAMILLUS 177, 2 blade, main blade etched, stockman pocket knife. It came with the original box and steel sharpening rod. It needed no cleaning at all. It now joins the 165 and the 179 already in my collection.

Guess what showed up in my mailbox today? Well, not the Queen/Moore Maker. Dura-Tool Journeyman #327. I bought it to put away for my collection. There are already 2 #27s and a 1770 (stainless steel) kicking around in my user pile. Camillus produced a ton of the latter two, but not as many of these. But, it is quite slim. What I noticed the most was the screwdriver lock--it is steel, not brass.

You know, I don't get it. Kutmaster cannot produce a lock worth a crap on their knives; and even now $14.95 is still less than $22. Every Camillus electrician I own, from World War II to when they called it quits, all have screwdrivers that lock up like a bank vault. Every Kutmaster--"locks". I can close the knife a fifth of the way with it engaged.
KIMG0763.JPG

Dumb question, but while on the topic of Moore Maker, is this one that Camillus made? This appears to be the Camillus Copperhead Double Lockback pattern. If so, it is cheaper than what people want on eBay for them, and Moore Maker has them in stock. Or, have they, perhaps, bought the tooling after Camillus went under?

This looks like 707Y, but in Moore Maker trim, and with carbon steel blades.

#3209DLB - DOUBLE LOCK TRAPPER - 3-3/4"

I just bought this knife for best offer. It's a CAMILLUS, 3 blade, main blade etched, stockman, "YELLO-JAKET" pocket knife. It has the bee shield. It looks good and I'll check it out when I get it. I will take some pictures and post them in the appropriate location(s).

Here's one I cleaned up today. It wasn't in bad shape, but you can still see some
pitting and small scratches on the main blade.

For me this is a very different knife, but I really like it.
A Muskrat "Yello-Jaket" Blades AUS8, carbon fiber scale insert.
There is no tang stamp, but Camillus is etched across the spine.
