Re: Empire Knife Company
What think you of this knife? Empire Signal Corp WWI knife. Winsted CT. I was told that this is cocobolo wood. The screw driver blade locks strongly with a strong spring. It is released by pressing in on the cutting blade. Pretty rare I was told? What do you guys think?
Re: Empire Knife Company
I can't attest to how rare it may be, nevertheless, a nice looking knife and any Empire is not something you are going see everyday. Thanks for posting.
I posted a Miller Bros a few months ago, not as nice as yours, but it also has the Signal Corps shield.

Re: Empire Knife Company
I have the stock single blade screw driver by Empire but I've never seen one with the signal corps shield. Nice find. Orvet may be able to give you more info as he is pretty well versed on those radio knives of any brand.

Re: Empire Knife Company
Some recent eBay sales of Empire knives of that pattern. Signal Corps shield should add some value.

Re: Empire Knife Company
Couple of my Empire's. The 2 bladed jack has horn handles and it came from a friend who got it from our friend Barry. Great knife that still has the etch showing.
The lockback I've had awhile but don't think I ever posted a picture of it.

A couple of great ones Mike! I've got the twin brother of the one with horn handles. Can't see any etch though.

Nice Signal Corps knife, jackknifejeff!
Two beautiful Empires, Mike! I would imagine there are not too many Empires around with an intact etch.
Lovely matching jack to Mike's, Greg!

Re: Empire Knife Company
Here's a shot of Mike's Empire before it took the trip out West. I was able to pick up the etch with the scanner.

Yes sir, Ken, you really landed a good one. Such good condition.
I may have mentioned it before but that's a nice "Sweetheart" caliper too.

Geez Ken that Empire wittler has so many good things going for it. Warncliff and coping blades, stable celluloid handles and it’s an Empire. Your a lucky man. Steve B.

Re: Empire Knife Company
KAW,I believe your Empire is a later knife that Parker had made in the late 1990's,early 2000's.A closer picture would help.

Re: Empire Knife Company
Yes, that's correct. Kaw. If you'll look look at the stamp Winsted is is spelled incorrectly. These were made in Germany on contract with James Parker as Roger and Mike have stated.

Re: Empire Knife Company
After a little more research... I found out this is a Bulldog Brand knife bought by James Parker in 1991... 5th Generation... made by the Olbertz factory in Germany between 2000—2003. After closer examination, I found the poorly stamped double dog head tang stamp on the secondary blades. The scales are also suppose to be some sort of horn.

Re: Empire Knife Company
Very nice Mike ... definitely one of the nicest scout knives I’ve seen given the MOP ... I assume MOP was somewhat out of the norm for scout knives?
