The Slicers new clothes

Post by Rossr »

So Bruce from Birdog forge in Pa. Made this knife years ago and named it the slicer. I really liked how it fit in my hand so it had to be mine. We struck a deal and I've enjoyed it since.

At the time I made a sheath for it. Seen in the picture.on the right. I hand stitched, bought a basket weave stamp and border stamp and created a sheath I was quite proud of at the time. So looking at it now I had done the basket weave stamp wrong. Stitching was ok and overall shape was ok.

So today I decided the slicer needed some new clothes. These new clothes have green lined deer skin inside, geometric stamping with border stamps. Machine stitched because I could.. A sleeker shape to the sheath. Proper skiving. Smoother edge.

It really.is amazing how we improve the more we make. Keep making have fun and enjoy the ride.

Although the first one did not look bad at all, the newer version is really something else! ::tu::

Amazing work on the sheath (and the first one looks pretty good too). And, I really like the "slicer". A beautiful couple together! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

If I can find the photo, I'll post it. Very nearly lost a finger over it, all while wearing a Kevlar glove.........
