RARE BOKER GERMANY ALEMANIA- INFO NEEDED

Post by CTAYLORMAN »

I JUST PICKED UP AN "OLD" BOKER LARGE HUNTER AT AN ANTIQUES SHOW THIS WEEKEND. IT HAS PERFECT BROWN BONE HANDLES AND WHAT LOOKS TO BE A BRASS SHIELD WITH THE PICTURE OF THE TREE AND THE WORD SOLINGEN AROUND IT. THE BLADES ARE STAMPED BOKER GERMANY ALEMANIA. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS ERA OF BOKER? THE ONLY THING I CAN FIND IS CONFIRMATION OF THE STAMPING BUT NO DATELINE. THIS IS THE ONLY BOKER I OWN BUT I COULDNT PASS IT UP FOR THE "PEANUTS" THAT I PAID FOR IT. IT CLEANED UP ALMOST LIKE NEW. I WAS TOLD THAT THE KNIFE WAS PROBABLY EARLY 1900'S BECAUSE ALEMANIA DOESNT EVEN EXIST ANY LONGER AND HASNT IN MANY YEARS. I AM NOT AT HOME RIGHT NOW SO I CANT POST A PICTURE OF IT BUT WILL MAYBE TOMORROW. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. MY INTENT WAS TO SELL THIS KNIFE AT FIRST JUST TO MAKE A COUPLE BUCKS TO BUY ANOTHER KNIFE BUT IM NOT SO SURE NOW. I MIGHT WANT TO HANG ONTO IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Goins' states that the stamping "Boker Solingen Germany Alemania" was used c. 1960-1970.

alemania is an old descriptive name for germany. loosely translated - "all men". as was stated used by boker germany 1960-1970.

maybe one of our german members can shed more light.

Hi. Sounds like an interesting knife. Boker curently makes knives in Argentina with Alemania on the tang. This is the Spanish name for Germany. I believe boker started making knives in Argentina in the 1980s. It is possible that your knife is older and made for the Spanish speaking market. Boker has a long history of business in South America. We would need to see photos including the tang stamps to provide further comment. Thanks :D s-k

You should know those Bokers are highly addictive and tend to sneak into your pocket.

You've got a nice one. ::tu::

Very nice. 1960s or 70s seems about right IMO. Earlier Bokers had the tree on the back of the tang. :D s-k
