THOMAS TURNER PICKUP - What is it?

Post by wilkere »

Picked up this old jigged bone handle knife. I thought the short blade was just a broken knife grinded down. But now I think it is shaped the way it is supposed to be. The spike one says OIL THC OR maybe the last letter is O. Must be some sort of oil can tool. What do the pros think?
Best regards,
Bob

I'm not a pro but I think you've got a pork and beans tool. A can opener. It says "Oil the Joints".
A very nice old stamp and a good looking knife too. ::tu::
Those "Encore's" go back to 1805.
Can you close the main blade half way and get a better picture of the tang stamp?
How long is the knife closed?

Nice ole' knife Bob! ::tu:: The short blade with the protrusion sticking up has a very specific use, but for the life of me I can't recall what that is! ::shrug:: 8)

That knife looks good to be at least 100 years old!

I think that can opener is WWI era. Very cool knife. ::tu::
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

You're going to look awfully silly with that knife sticking out of your @#$. -Clint Eastwood, High Plains Drifter
