I have had one of these Buck Kalingas ever since they came out. They are good for breaking down (quartering) large game and heavy work. I never used them to field dress, to cumbersome, a smaller knife worked better. Everyone has their favorites though. My son has my original battered Kalinga. The 2 older knives have been sharpened twice, yes, they can be a pain to sharpen.

The top knife was made before 1986, the bottom was made in 1990. Yes, I accidentally had the knives turned so the tang did not show when I took the picture
