Yes Grant, they are early John Primble 933s and came in the same box the early Schrades came in.
Blow is an 8OT in the early box. I have some 933 knives like yours that came in the later brown boxes...Ken

Those are the only three I know of.

There is one in bone... would be a great find. I think there might be some like a 34OT with square bolsters but not sure about that.

Thawk. To me they look like an Ulster 580T. The first of the Ulster 580T came out with bone handles and later changed to Delrin

Some must, I sale a few on eBay and they always sale.

Yes they did.







I was lucky enuff to find one a while back. The Ulster stamped bone versions have 580T on the back tang and milled liners.

They also made an Ulster Old Timer 50OT. This is my 50OT; bone handles with a crack. Larry Vickery also has a 50OT without any breaks in the handles, it is very nice!
His has the 50OT tang stamp, whereas mine does not.




Ulster also made a 12OT, sheepfoot Barlow. This 12OT belongs to Larry Vickery. I don't think he would mind me posting it.

Dale my Ulster 50OT has a 5OT stamp.The only 2 Blade 12OT I have is a Schrade.It a 72OT pattern with a 12OT blade.
I don't see any Ulster 500T or Ulster barlow 120T on ebay. They must be fairly rare.

That is strange that yours is stamped 5OT.
Larry's is stamped 50OT, mine is not stamped and the flyer I posted about shows the number as 500 T.
Apparently Schrade/Ulster couldn't make up their minds what to call it!

I have noticed a number of inaccuracies in their catalogs & printed materials over the years.


The 12OT Schrade is the single blade Pal.
The Ulster 12OT is the sheepfoot Barlow, an alternative to the 10OT spear blade Barlow for the Prince Albert offer. I think that flyer was produced in 1964, which would coincide with the Prince Albert offer.
The Schrade 12OT was not introduced until 1991. Apparently they recycled the model number.

Received a 100TH Anniversary 194OT in the mail today.

I am looking at Jan 1967 ULSTER Distributor's price lists and they list the following:

10 OT $1.25
58 OT $1.58

They also list a 50 at $1.00 and a 55 at $1.25

Hi Grant, I have just found a John Primble 923 put away in my collection, it looks like it was made by Schrade Pre 1970.

Ken what does the John Primble 923 look like. I could not find one in the Belknap catalogs.

This John Primble 923 has a “bomb-shell” shield, and looks much like a Parker Frost 285UH, without the bone handles.
I have just found another mint 935 hiding in a box, I use to find them on eBay for under $30 about five years a go... Ken
