My best guess would be Cocobolo just from the picture.

Beautiful knives on this thread! ::tu::

Can anyone please help me date this one...the only blade markings are the cranes, and I saw another one on this thread with similar stamps. I also saw another similar one on ebay a while ago and it was a Robt Klaas Prussia, so that's what I always thought this one was. Regardless, it's a purdy knife and it's well built. cheers

That is a beautiful old Klaas. It is a Crane brand. The stamp was first used in 1913.

Before I got Basser's comment, I sent Robert Klaas in Germany a message with a picture of my knife. It took a while, but here is their response...

First I have to apologize for our late reply.
Yes, you are the owner of an original Klaas pocket knife.
We estimate the age of the knife of approx 80 years. The marking of the storks has been changed in the course of the decades.
It is not possible to tell you an exact construction year because the knives were made over a longer period. Keep the knife in good condition!

Basser, those are really beautiful knives...I'm really growing to love this brand more and more each day ::tu::

I picked this one up the other day at a pawn shop. I asked if they had any old pocket knives and the owner said no...but he had this. I almost couldn't contain myself when he pulled it out. Any idea how old this one would be? This knife is in great shape, fantastic snap and full blades, very well made.
cheers
