Thank you Mark...you are not alone in your multiple failed attempts to snag an Albers on the drop...I finally managed to get one from a secondary source and paid through the nose for it. But, I knew as soon as I laid eyes on it that I absolutely HAD to have this one at any cost. I think I made the right decision. ::nod::

In a class all by itself:

AMBER CARVED STAG BONE

Most ACSB knives shown on AAPK are currently found in the Queen Cutlery sub-forum because Queen is probably the most well known maker of ACSB. Additionally, Queen's ACSB is arguably the best that was ever used on production knives and certainly the most ubiquitous. However, there are other manufacturers that use or have used ACSB on their knives besides Queen, such as Moki and Canal Street (who called its version Dark Amber Stag Bone), as well as numerous custom knife makers and knife modifiers.

This thread is dedicated exclusively to ACSB (not jigged amber bone or amber dyed stag) and is for showing ACSB knives of ALL brands and/or makers.

To get this thread started, here's my newest ACSB acquisition:

Sharp Fans 2011 Club Knife, Queen #48 Swell Center Whittler
Some lovely knifes being show .? Is A .C.S.B. Sandbar stag carved and died amber or any other type of stag carved and died amber .

ACSB is not genuine Stag (Sambar or any other type of deer antler), it's actually BONE (cattle bone) that has been "Carved" (jigged) to look like genuine stag.

Thanks for the education. I guess there will always be a ready supply of cow bone to make ACSB which is great news.

Thank you for your reply and clarification . I have a Queen mountain man knife on my wish list that I think may have been scaled with AC.S.B . handles .

I'm not an expert on Queen handle materials; however, based on my experience looking at hundreds (possibly thousands) of Queen knives over the years I have identified at least three similar but different types of "stag bone" used on Queen and Schatt & Morgan knives all of which are bone that has been "carved" or jigged to resemble genuine stag:

1) Regular Stag Bone which is white and brown/black. Comparable to Case's 6.5 bone stag but without Case's characteristic "toasted" colors: brown, beige and yellow. (See below).

2) Brown Stag Bone which is mostly dark brown but often has lighter brown and white areas along the edges. This is what I think your Mountain Man is, Thomas.

3) Amber Stag Bone (ACSB) which has obvious amber (also varying degrees of red, orange and yellow) highlights.

Here are some examples:

Oh man, that is gorgeous, Tom  Absolute beauty! That's the nicest ACSB I've seen that's not factory production Queen, Moki or Canal Street, and it's on an uber cool old Wharncliffe whittler to boot. You've really got the Monkey's ACSB jealousy juices flowing big time ::drool::

When I saw it I had to have it Q for all the reasons you state - thank you brother - helps when Joe Culpepper supplied Barry the handle materials.

Going back to Thomasg’s question, here’s another example of Queen Brown Stag Bone for comparison. Same Carved Stag Bone (CSB) jigging as ACSB but different color.
(This is not my knife, it’s one that I found for sale on eBay)

That is pretty nice looking CSB...I had to do several enlarged examinations before I was sure I wasn't actually looking at GSA (Genuine Stag Antler). ::tu::
