Concerning the little pistol Dave obtained, I have one that I bought as a kid from an ad probably in Field & Stream. It was as Ray suggested, a pin fire. It came with a few rounds of blank ammo that soon was soon used up. My recollection of something that many years ago is a little bit foggy but as I recall there were several of the blank rounds that did not fire. I never bought any extra rounds and am lucky to still have it. It was in Mother's jewelry box when she passed. My pistol doesn't have the pearl handles but scroll on the handles also it has GEREMANY stamped on the left side.
I believe I had posted a picture of this little pistol before somewhere on the forum.

- Probably purchased around 1960 +/-

Thanks Phil. Mine has only the top of the barrel stamped Austria. I'm glad I grabbed it from the case (choice of anything in the case for $40) and likely paid too much but it intrigued me and I would have kicked myself to lose it for a few less dollars._____Dave

Coming back from Denton today we stopped off at an antique mall that we hadn't been in for about 2 years, and there is a good reason why, no knives. The only one I saw in the whole darn place was this one, an after Christmas leftover Schrade linerlock. Oh well at least I've got a start on next years decorations.

Went to an estate sale today over in Fort Worth of a family friend of Cherylβs that recently passed away. Actually she was like a second mother to Cheryl. This was someone who she knew from the time she was 6 years old and spent so many hours and days with her daughters. After Cheryl and I married she would always say she loved me like I was her son. Cheryl cried as she went through the house with one of the daughters seeing all the things from their childhood and later things that Cheryl had given to her friend. Cheryl received back some paintings and a large macramΓ© hanging planter that Cheryl had made for her.
Of course I was looking for guns, knives, and tools, but one of the son in laws had already received the CASE knives her late husband left. I did get these steak knives that her husband loved to use; one is missing. The are by Federal Cutlery Co. made in Japan. Stainless steel blades, chrome bolsters and end caps. Composite handles with what appears to be chrome stenciling. The small knife is an ad knife for a Fort Worth company and was made by Colonial PROV. R.I. The three wood disks look like they were used to display something which is what I will do. Drill one or two holes in them and then put small magnets in the holes and display a knife on top of the magnets.
No big finds, but it was a walk down memory lane that I think helped Cheryl come to a closing in loosing such a dear friend.

As I mentioned this morning in FCD I went out and made the rounds to several pawn shops that I know sometimes have some of the old knives instead of todays wild looking whatever knives. All I could find today was:
CASE #710096 SS Tiny Toothpick 063 of ??? with "Antique River Log" etched on the blade.
https://www.antiqueriverlogs.com/knives shows a series of CASE knives, including this one apparently made with old railroad cross ties. Very interesting read.
Schrade Old Timer Trapper #96OT with a pick and tweezers in the end like the SAK's.
Schrade Old Timer Trapper #94OTW (China) "First Run Production" etched on the main blade. Does anyone have a Old Timer shield I can buy from you?
Robeson Shuredge #622730
The CASE is in excellent shape, but the other 3 have seen some good use. When I get a new workshop I will have to decide just how much cleaning and restoration do I want to attempt if any.

David,
Nice bunch for the day. I think I know where to look for Old Timer shields.
Contact Jeff Finamore AAPK (jeffinn) Second Life Knives. When he re handles Old Timers often the shields are left off.
