Bought two today but that about broke the bank. A Puma lock blade that releases by pushing the stag scale up at the butt end, and a Taylor Sheffield horseman's knife in amazing shape with 7 blades or tools and both the pick and the tweezers intact. Both knives have really nice stag scales.____Dave

This one is not exactly one I found but instead my brother found it and gave it to me as they came through and spent last night.
He got it at an antique shop and the only info he could get was the full tang blade was cut from a table saw blade and the same person made the sheath to fit the knife. I have no idea of the wood type the handle is made of but is feels comfortable in my hand. Truth be told the sheath is a higher quality product than the knife, but the knife has a very sharp edge on it.
Question: Should I leave the wood handles on it or replace them with something like Buffalo horn, stag or maybe a better looking wood like ironwood or burlwood?

That's a neat little knife, David!

I can't say for sure what I'd do about the handles, but I think ironwood would look excellent if you decide to replace them.

The handles on it don't look bad to me.

I tend to agree with Reverand, the handle looks just fine as is for a working/using knife. If you were going to display it, however, I would go with some nice Mammoth Ivory or a Moose antler tine or some kind of tusk (walrus, warthog, etc.). Either way, it is a cool and unique little knife. The blade looks like a modified Alaskan Ulu (
https://theulufactory.com/ulu-history/).
Looks like it would probably be a great skinning knife or chopping knife for the kitchen. Nice gift.

Thank you gentlemen, I've been thinking about it and I'm going to leave it the way it is. That's how someone
made it and that's the way it should remain....

I have managed to pick up a handful this week.
Case 3316 Stockman, has a lot of scratches and missing a shield, but a good solid EDC

- Case 3316
Schrade Improved Muskrat, in good condition.

- Schrade Improved Muskrat
Saxonia Germany with a glass cutter. I got it from eBay. I have already posted it in the appropriate thread.

- Saxonia Cutlery Germany
Coast 541 lockback, made in Japan. This knife has some discoloration and gunk on it, but it looks like it has never been carried or used. I think it was just stored poorly, but it should clean up nicely.

- Coast 541 Japan
Victorinox with Uline logo. I do not know the model name. This knife looks like it was carried around the world, as the handles are worn badly and the blade well is filled with gunk. The blades are so stiff that they can hardly move! But it was not used enough to dull the blade.
It should soon get the spa treatment, along with some new scales.

It is nice. It has a few scratches from use, but then don't we all? The Mark-side blade has a little wiggle when open, but both blades are snappy. Nothing there to keep it out of rotation.
I enjoy repairing knives, but I also enjoy not having to repair every one!

Reverand you done good, I like the Muskrat.
That friend of mine I went to see had some different knives in his booth and I bought these 3 from him.
A CASE small toothpick, I believe a 2005. (5 dots)
A LIPIC USA. I understand it was possibly made by Camillus.
A Bear & Son Lockback. Could someone look at the closeup of the tang. I've never seen that mark before.
Also does any have or know where I might get a replacement shield?

Thank you very much Jerry.

So my knife has 9 stars, that would make it a 2011.
