Had some luck today in Snow Hill, MD.
BEAR-MGC, BUCK 500, OLD TIMER-43OT. The BUCK has some honest use but the BEAR and OT are stone mint. These are not what I collect so I'll take them to the Berlin, MD show on Oct. 22nd., maybe do some swapping. O'.

The bone handled pocket urility knife has some letters..."ITTERT & CO? I can't see the first letter.
Is that a folding guard that's tucked into the handle on that folding knife, and is the blade it's on missing? I've seen that brand before with only that part of the stamp showing but can't remember what we figured out it was. It looks German.____Dave

Wish I had something cool to share...I did go to the flea market with my son on Sunday. I tried really hard to buy something, but pickins were not that good, and I didn't see anything that I absolutely had to take home with me.

Oh well, time well spent with my boy is better than a knife any day!

A two dollar surprise package. ::shrug::
I'll have a go at two dollars for a taped up Case peanut. ::paranoid::
The reason for the tape was obvious exposed tip.
I cleaned it up and did a little file work on the spine of the blade and the kick and got it to where it wouldn't cut me.
I cleaned out the blade well and sharpened it and oiled it and was happy to have it.
My peanut story in a nut shell. ::facepalm::

Thank you, treefarmer.
It had been in that tape for quite some time. It was really scuzzy!
It is a nice little knife now. ::nod::

I found a Schrade 8OT yesterday at an antique store.
Now, I don't usually buy a knife that is not in need of repair, but this one was too cheap to pass up. It did need to be cleaned, but not repaired. Someone had put it up wet and it had several spots of new rust.
I scrubbed it with steel wool, then gave it a spotty vinegar patina by splashing a little vinegar on a rag and wrapping the blades. I will cut a few 'maters with it over the next few weeks to give it a real protective coating.
These Schrade Old Timers are not sexy, but they are good solid knives that hold a wicked edge!
