Wade, that is one fine, fine shotgun - and in the Southern Gentleman's gauge at that - I believe you have become a Country Squire! Good shooting, OH

Thank you guys. TJ I almost hate to take it rabbit hunting, but I'm sure I will, some at least.

OH I was thinking of you as I was posting because of both the gauge and the poly-choke. I knew you'd appreciate that. This is my third model 37 16 gauge, and I have a fourth a coming. My 1952 has a poly-choke too and last year it was my go to rabbit gun. A light pump, poly, and 16 gauge is darn hard to beat for bunnie bustin'.

My Christmas gift in my 16th year was a Mossberg 16 ga. bolt action with a poly-choke. I didn't appreciate it then as much as I should have and I suppose not now either. We were as poor as Job's turkey and I did and I do appreciate the sacrifices my parents had to make in order to give it to me.

That's a nice 1911. I never had one, but hope too. Now if you want to waste shells......my Ithacas (and OH's model 12's) all slam fire. As long as you hold the trigger back they'll fire as fast as you can work the slide. I've fired off two shells fast enough that I only felt one recoil impulse. That's how I learned I'd developed a bad habit of riding the trigger!

Cuz, I understand completely what your saying. I hope one day my boys appreciate what I've laid back for them.

Colonel,
That's a fine shotgun! Can't say that I like the polychoke ::barf::, :) but the rest of it is great! Many years ago, I traded a welding machine for a 16 ga. 37 with a mod. choke bbl.. I don't know when it was made but it did have the matt finish on the receiver. That was a wonderful dove gun. I kept it for years but a guy that I knew was collecting 37's, he had a 12 and a 20 but needed a 16. So.... what ya got to trade? He had a 16 ga. Winchester model 24, so we made the deal. I love Winchesters, but this dbl. bbl. just didn't handle like the 37. A year or so later some dude wanted the 24, so....what ya got to trade? He came up with a Winchester 1895 carbine in 30/40 cal. Only problem, it had a replacement butt stock but I made that trade  . Monetarily I'm ahead of the game, but I would still love to have that old 16 ga. 37 ::tu:: . Bought a new 12 ga. 37 for my son for a graduation present many years ago, he shoots left handed and I also traded a fancy 20 ga. 37 for new .243 that he killed his 1st deer with when he was 9 years old.
And Big Monk, that Kimber looks mighty sweet ::tu:: ! I could ramble on about how I traded for my 1st Colt Commander and how I let it get away ::facepalm:: ..... I'll spare y'all the details.

I really enjoy this thread, Guns and Gun Related Stuff. Let's all remember our precious 2nd Amendment rights as this year's elections progress!

Wade you flat own to many Ithica's boy that's sweet--I got broke to a 16 ga. Model 12 in 1962 they will reach out there and knock down some game & rock a little kid or grown man--16 Ga. shot guns got cheap in the 70's & 80's but made a comeback in the 90's think the newer ones shoot harder than the old ones--

Pigsticker, we're just talking 16's here. We ain't even got into the 20's, 12's, and double barrel yet........

But the formula for guns needed is the same as knives...... N + 1 (with n being the number you already own).

Oh, and while we were there, my wife put a dandy little old Stevens 311 .410 on layaway for herself as a birthday present. ::ds::

Ya baby .410's were my weakness make sure and post pic's when she get's it home--you need to invest in a couple shot shell loaders for them two shotgun rounds it can be a little trickie loading for a pump gun but you can do it with a little practice

Oh I already load for my 20 gauge Ithacas. Longshot powder, 1 oz of shot, and doves fold. I just use a plain ol MEC 600 Jr.

But I do need a .410 and a 16 reloader now!

That's the only way to go I have one setup for .410 & 20 gauge--watch the gun shows and pick up an old one and convert it to the gauge you want pretty easy to do these days with the internet service--I used Hogdan 110 hand gun powder in a .410 2 1/2" AA hull #5 shot don't recall powder volume or shot weight but those little dudes were the perfect bunny round made some crazy long shots with those loads and people with big shot guns would go home in shame ::smirk:: ::sneaky::

I visited my sister and her daughter-in-law in Missouri week before last. They live in the daughter-in-law's parents old farm house amidst 160 acres of unused pasture with three ponds. Parents are deceased.

There was a gun cabinet in the bedroom where Sarah and I slept.

I should have taken pics, but did not.

There was a Remington 30-06 Woodmaster Deluxe.

A Savage .410 pump, looking very much like that Ithaca 20 gauge above. I'm pretty sure it was a pre-war gun. That was a very appealing gun and in immaculate condition, as was the Remington WoodMaster. Her father took very good care of his guns.

I do not know the model number of the Savage.

Also a J.C. Higgins single shot 20g.

I knew she had no interest in selling. She's an only child and holding on to her Dad's past loves.

But, Man Oh Man, would I have loved to have brought that Savage .410 home with me. ::tu:: ::ds::

Very nice Wade, Monk and Ferg! Partial to the SIG Ferg (as my avatar clearly suggests) as that is my maker of choice although would like to pick up a nice 1911 at some point.

Here's a couple of Colt's....

I have been wanting a 1911 for a long time...so I pulled the trigger (pun intended) for a Father's Day / Birthday present..... after I got permission from "She Who Must Be Obeyed".

I've had the AR (LE6940) for a a couple years - finally stuck a Nikon 4x12 x 40 scope on it. I chose the Colt 1911 Rail Gun (O1980RG) in black to go along with it. Taking them both to the range tomorrow. :)

Beautiful gun Unk! After your post I did some research and it seemed there was a huge heated debate as to "rail or not to rail" between traditionalist 1911 fans and others whom see it as a great option.
I am in the "great option" genre although the traditional 1911 is a sweet thing. I am a big fan of "rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it" on guns and other thing in life.

On an unrelated note, went to the hardware store last weekend and as always, I browse the gun and ammo section. I use this store a lot and although sometimes their prices are slightly higher, they don't gouge and they have what you are looking for most times. Selection is key in a small town.

Anyway, it seems the ammo shortage subsided a while ago, except for .22LR, but they can be found. Maybe I am old fashioned but I don't really do online purchases unless I am forced to, even if I pay a few bucks more.
This store finally gets .22LR in, been out of stock for months. $9.99 for 50 rounds, 20 cents a round. No thanks and screw that. Owner said he paid 9 bucks a box, truth or not.

Exactly the reason I diversify the calibers I own including NATO. What a rip off. Will spend a bit extra to buy something with more umphh. Besides, already have enough .22 rounds, although one can never have enough ammo of any caliber, in my opinion.

Thanks Jerry! I have been looking at 1911s for several years....shot a few....looked some more. There are so many on the market nowadays - hard to decide. I was also debating on the rail or no rail, too.

I finally decided on a Colt - as I figure if they have been making them for 100 years, then hopefully they know what they are doing. Also it is all forged and made in U.S.A. What finally tipped my decision to the rail gun was the U.S. Marines ordering the Colt M45.

I ran 50 rounds through it on Friday - and I now have a new favorite pistol. :)

Yes Sir Unk, thanks for the link, info and review!

Looking to pick one up at some point. I need to look at them more and research them. However, an endorsement by use of Military Special Ops as you mentioned goes along way for me also on any maker/model. I am fond of SIG but the reason I bought another in 9mm, the Sig Sauer MK-25 Navy SEALS Issue P226, is that if it is trusted by our SEALS to carry with the job they have, huge endosrement in my opinion, in addition to the great experince I have had owning a previous one and other SIG models.

Congrats on a great gun and sharp looking Colt combo.

Regards, Jerry
