Afternoon Everyone . Some of you fellas been awful busy scarfing up knives . Looking good !
Made it to the Badger Knife show yesterday. Coming in from the North we were able to make it just fine thru the Snowstorm that hit that area . Was a lot of stuff there, mainly newer and custom pieces. So not finding anything pre WW1 that couldn’t do without went with a couple of newer pieces . Picked up a Kershaw 1660 Teal Speedsafe and a Case 6355 WH . Now am not very knowledgeable about either one . Been toting the Kershaw and really like this one . Even more than the Kershaw Auto was toting . So this’ll be in the pocket for awhile on trial. The 4 inch long frame is perfect for the hand and the the flipper action is great . It’s easier to use this one and get it opened up than the push button Auto that I had been carrying around . The Case will be put to use in the shop . With the short Warncliffe main and the stout spine it should whittle and carve decent . Not much of a Case guy ,rather have an old Camillus in hand but this one came at a great price from a friend at Janesville. So thought what the heck will give it a shot . Don’t know what you Case folks call this bone/ color but really do like it .
Enjoy your day out there.

Ripster, nice finds ! I agree with you. I much prefer an old Camillus or Queen. Case in my opinion are overpriced and vary widely in quality. I’ve seen some that were poorly made. I’m not a fan of their proprietary steels either. They are popular mostly because they’re marketed as highly collectible. However, in my opinion, having hundreds of models mass produced with hundreds of handle choices doesn’t make them better. I value high quality over quantity.

JP,
Your Case is known as a Seahorse Whittler. I saw an article saying they were introduced in 2002. I'd never seen one and an ol' friend said, "I saw the oddest lookin' Case at the pawnshop the other day, you need to go look at it." I not only looked but I bought it. :) Mine's a 2007 model, your looks like 2002, can't quite see the stamp. The Seahorse Whittler is comfortable in the hand when whittling. ::nod::

Thanks Phillip. ::tu:: And it is very comfortable in the hand . With the 4 inch frame and that short blade it’s a great Whittler. It looks to be a 2002 if reading Case tang stamp right ? He had a Case Collector piece same set up but liked this bone and shield , so it came home . The run up and some of the machining could be better but otherwise a great knife .
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday . ::handshake::

Nice pickups from the Badger show Ripster. I was able to make it down there on Sunday, lots of great stuff. Some of the asking prices on the older knives were pretty high, but that's how it goes.
I have long been an admirer of nautical themed books, artwork etc, and always wanted to pick up a scrimshawed knife at some point. I found this one with a big ol' tall ship on it, and worked out a fair price with the seller, so it came home with me. The knife itself is just a rough rider, but the large slab of smooth white bone provide a perfect blank canvas for the artwork. I like how the proportions of the tall ship work well with the "tall" size of the bone. Anyway here she is. Now I've scratched that itch.

That is a excellent knife Mike, congrats! ::tu::
BTW if you like tall ships go to my website and in the wood burning section I have several tall ships displayed and will soon be adding more.

Thanks for the comments on the scrimshaw fellas I appreciate it.
Topdogg I like that Schrade, looks to be in pretty good shape, and the Turkish clip or muskrat clip blade is a great slicer.

Dan, it is a light meter for an "old-timey" photography... ::hmm:: I thought about sending to Ivory Man... but his pictures are too darn perfect anyway.

Here is one I picked up today at a local antique shop. It is stamped I.K. CO. (over) U.S.A.
Single blade, very good handle/bolster shell made of tin. I have some of these type knives
mostly made by Imperial but this one is very clean for it's age and the blade has a better
snap to it than some new knives and it even has a half-stop. It is a cool little knife I plan
to use as an EDC. Has anyone heard of that company?

Thank you sir! I thought Imperial made most of those type of knives. When I looked at the initials that entered my mind but I didn't want to make any assumptions.
