Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
No great day at the flea market but still , I like what I found.
Queenbird knife with delrin handles, on one side, busted on the back side for a sawbuck. And a set of berridge scissors from Sterns Michigan for a fin.. Probably get the Queen rehandled and polished

Are you sure that handle is Delrin. It sure looks like Winterbottom bone in the picture.____Dave

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
To be honest I think it may be bone but kinda sounds like plastic when tapped with several items?? When I scraped the back side it kinda powdered off> The good side is solid. the back is split like bone would look split?? I just cant tell.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
My buddy says to heat up a pin/needle and poke the back side of the scales. Plastic type material will melt under the heat and the pin will penetrate a bit. Bone will not melt nor give way.

The bone will have a burnt hair smell. I agree that knife is Winterbottom jigged bone typical of Queen. J.O'.

Yep, its bone. I used a magnifier, Guess I just could have read the tang stamp. made between 1952-55. Id sure like to find a piece of bone for the flip side! Gives me something to look out for. There is an old Queen cutler down the road with a lot of old Queen stuff but he has become a recluse and doesnt want anybody coming around anymore.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Been looking at this little bartender's for about a year. The guy wanted $25 and I didn't think it was worth that. I got it today for $10 on a Memorial Day sale in really nice condition. The B and B ad is very dark and crisp. Glad I waited. O'.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Scott, you did good once again! I agree with Ridgegrass about the little Case.
In addition to the Case I see several others that are very interesting, the Geo. Schrade wire-handled number and the little Buck probably a 283. And looks like at least a couple of the military pocket knives have a "Q" on the tang.

Have you figured out what pattern it is? It's a prize for sure!Ridgegrass wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 8:37 pm TF: That little CASE is a beauty! Made that trip worthwhile.J.O'.
