Well I know when you sharpen knives and collect knives you get the red juices sometimes running on the outside of the body…nicked my index finger yesterday and I said that stings a little, and at first no blood but 15 seconds later you would have thought I cut a artery. So bandaid applied….looks small but the blade went in deep….bleeding stopped but the sting is still there….

Does one of the smoker meat turners with the right angle 180 degree curved, pointy, very sharp curly cue jobs deeply embedded in your right calf meat while striding to the smoker qualify for this thread? That was yesterday...

I am good Tim. No blood canals pierced. Nothing a some super glue and duct tape can't handle.

Absolutely love your post signature by the way. True that! Mine by Robert Louis Stevenson is my life motto. Additionally, do something nice for someone everyday which embodies his poem theme.

Glad you’re OK, Jerry, and, yep, like your signature, too! Ours are very similar, aren’t they!?

Well I knew I was lucky to have not cut myself playing with knives in a long time. My Case XX USA copperhead bit me while we were out with the grandkids picking apples 🍎. I was attempting to sample an apple right off the tree. One slip and I sliced the fingertip almost to the bone. ::dang::
My wife said she would make some apple crumble. Hmmm I’m feeling better already ::groove:: Steve B.

I won't name the knife. It wasn't the knife's fault, after all; it was I who allowed myself a moment's distraction. In that moment, my thumb thought it was going to operate the liner lock. My thumb was mistaken. But the nurse-practitioner and everyone else at the urgent care were very nice.

I would have to say ouch and ouch. One for the thumb and one for the wallet. If you are like our family and on a HSA that is going to cost you. I have fulfilled our HSA all on my own 3 years running.
Hopefully you heal quickly.
Steve

Great location on the thumb 👍. A gentle reminder every time you button your pants or shirt.

Thanks for your kind words! The thumb throbs a bit, but tolerable. I have pretty good insurance, so my copay for urgent care was quite reasonable.

Good lord, I have cut myself a couple dozen times a year for the last 65 years, nearly severed my hand last year when I was stripping large electrical wire. Fortunately, there was instant access to a roll of paper towels, and it took the entire roll to staunch the bleed. Took another half roll to clean up the floor.

Yikes - I could see how a bad one like that could happen stripping heavy wire. Hope no permanent damage ...

UPDATE: One week later, my wound had healed very nicely. I used the scissors and tweezers of my Victorinox Climber to remove the sutures.

We have all cut ourselves at some time or another, but I have gotten to the point of using cut resistant gloves when I'm working extremely close to the edge. That being said, I always say, if your a knife collector, its not a question of if you're going to cut yourself, but when! And keep the first aid kit handy!
