All About Pocket Knives

Lot's of great old knives posted here and a lot of informative discussion. Here are a couple that are not quite so old. A "Berkshire, Cutlery Co., U.S.A." and a "FIDELITY, KNIFE CO, NEW YORK". Goins say they are both stamps used by Simmons Hardware circa 1939.

I have posted this knife in two other threads, however, I searched the forums for Naugatuck and came up with quite a few references to other knife companies from Naugatuck, but no other references to Naugatuck Cutlerly Co., so decided to post it here as well.

Great stamps here guys , where else can you find such a great library of rare knives Here`s an old switchblade with a very rare contract stamp on it . Made by Flylock K.c. for Cattaraugus .

Old "Chris Wolf" knife of Schatt Morgan and Sears Roebuck fame. Picked up at the Parker show in Sevierville, Tn. Thanks to David Clark for his research on these old knives!!

Nice Tom.Also thanks to David Clark I picked up a unused Jess Crouch blade that were found at the Queen factory.

A little late to the party but I found a PDF file containing a history of HSB. The following comes from that file. http://www.thckk.org/history/hsb.pdf

IL-A-NOY, True Value, Stand-By, Lady Hibbard, and Chrysolite (enameled ware).
· In the later years, HSB & Co. also sold Keen Kutter razor blades and pocket knives, Marbles hunting knives, and Winchester flashlights as found in their catalogs.

I have one of each of these two knives and that makes a full collection. I loved the KW article and all the mistery that still remains on who Chris Wolf is and his connection to S&M. I have a reprint copy of the Sears & Roebuck catalog and love the way they described the Wolf knife"ugliest knife on the market". The guy I bought mine from didn't agree because he wanted $160 for it and I didn't agree because I paid him $120. Awesome old working knives with the stamping deep into the thick heavy blade so the stamping can be used to open the blade. It takeds a good grip because of the hard snap. Dave

I found this "H. Boker & Co's Improved Cutlery" at the local semi-annual flea market. It has since gone to live with another AAPK member. I'm told this is the 1907-1914 stamp.
The rest are not old so they don't qualify.

It is aluminum.I have two Holleys with aluminum handles.At the time these knives likely were made aluminum was almost as valuable as gold due to the difficulty in mining it.I also have and old bread knife from the Buffalo Knife Co of the same era whose handle is stamped,"Made of pure aluminum" which apparently was something to brag about.

That's what I thought it looked like. I have only had a few holleys , but none with those handles. Great looking knife!!

Challenge is not a rare stamp but the spey blade in this trapper is unusual.

Would a "Keen-Edge Cutlery Co." from Canton Hardware Co., Canton, Ohio be considered rare? First one I've seen.

Beautiful old knife, TJ! Definitely would seem to be a rare stamp and belongs in this thread (obvious answer to what I assume was a rhetorical question?).
