I hereby nominate KLJ77 for POS 2024 MVP

The alleged box of refuse showed up yesterday. It was clean, well packed, shipped priority, came with poetry...and it smelled nice? Must be the Eagle tears.

The pile of poo was really an interesting group of old knives with more interesting history and project potential than bad smell or leakage. Only 4 real stinkers.
The Colonial with sawcut black delrin is going into my daily rotation. Did Ken know I'm a Colonial fan? Probably, but that i was just thinking to myself that this particular model is what i wanted?...get out of my head Ken!

The "win" inside which was mentioned in the poem was a pair of Case canoes, a big and a little. They're fantastic, and even the case they came in is nicer than most of what I sent to Thomas....

The bone handled pen is an Empire and it shipped packed in with the rest of gen pop. It's real cool.

I opened the box with my boys and they had a good time too. I told them each to pick out their favorite. They chose: the yellow usa tipped bolster, the leather sheath( ), and my little guy picked the bigger Case. My oldest asked if he could help "clean the rust off" the yellow knife he chose. Im knocking the edge off and putting him to work on it today. Sheath guy is "packing it for an adventure" as we speak, and some day I'll give that Case to my littlest one, mark my words, but Daddy is gonna keep it for a while

I have a special affinity for big and little combos of things, knives included. Again, did our buddy Ken know this? Or lucky guess? Either way its incredibly thoughtful and Im honored to own the previous possessions of such an esteemed member of this knife community.

The knives were great, but of course the prize here is the literature. Its top notch. Its emblematic of the time, thought, and effort that Ken put into this. He's a generous man with a vibrant spirit.

Well RockingKJ, unfortunately it looks like you won't be receiving the nicest "load"... however, tipping the scales at nearly 7 pounds, it sounds like you may be in the running for the biggest load.

But with 7 different shades packed in there, I'm sure you'll find something worthwhile... or at least amusing. I had to snail mail it since shipping was by far the most expensive part of your burden, I mean, gift.

The good news is, by the time it gets there, you'll probably be accustomed to the odor, as I'm sure you can already smell it from here.

Received C-Wade’s POS package today. I’ll start out by saying; I’m REALLY pleased with the Birdseye Maple Anvil he personally made for me. He took the time to research my posts and observed that I was a Buck knife fan and created the anvil for me. I truly appreciate him taking the time to make this and gift it to me. It’s definitely a ‘prize’ piece I’ll enjoy using and displaying.

He also made a small wood knife from a kit. My wife said; “Well, isn’t that just the ‘cutest’ little knife. I’ll be keeping this one.” She’s dangerous with knives, so I won’t have to worry about this cute little thang in her hands. She’s a happy camper and you put smile on her face, C-Wade.

I received a mixture of knives, some of which are ‘keepers’, in my opinion. The three that stood out to me was the Boker, the Stockman and the Hawkbill. Many of the others are still good users and carriers. Some are fodder for next year.

Miniature Imperial (Ireland) lock back w/blk covers. Added it to my miniature collection.

Smith & Wesson liner lock designed by Morgan A. Taylor. An “extreme ops”

A ‘G’ MKlein & Sons, Chicago Hawkbill in decent condition and quite usable. Will put an edge to it and probably rehandle with some white oak.

Camillus electricians knife. Usable

Thorton USA spear blade. Good snap, no wobble. Half stop w/green covers.

Unidentifiable three bladed Stockman w/brown covers. Very usable

Imperial Barlow w/clip & pen. Blk covers. Usable

Stainless Barlow w/ brown saw cut covers. Very usable knife. Blades open and close very well.

Boker USA w/spear point & pen blades. Stamped 8842. Blades are SHARP with main blade long pull. This knife is a keeper and will be a great user. Solid and well made. Brown & green covers. Bone?

Hubbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co 9719. Main blade long pull w/half stop.

Again, Thank You C-Wade for a very nice assortment of knives and two special pieces. I appreciate the time and work you put into this years POS. Smiles and gratitude all around.

Well, I received a box from OldeCutler yesterday...and what a box it is! Actually, it's just a regular Priority mail box--but the contents--now, that's another story! First is this lovely Lynx lockback knife made from a Jantz kit, with Culpepper autumn gold bone handles. The workmanship on this is just beautiful--thew kind of thing I can only hope to aspire to some day. And, unlike most lockback knives I have owned, this one is easy enough to close that I don't need a pair of pliers to make it happen.

Next is a sweet little LF&C knife which had had a couple of broken blades--repurposed into a single blade knife with a knife opener and gorgeous cocobolo handles.

There are also a couple of very nice hand made pens--very comfortable in the hand and beautifully finished.

The Boy Scout match safe takes me back about 55 years when I first got one of these. I will put it with my Ulster BSA knife!

Then there are several other items--"gentlemen's knives", an old no-name pearl lobster, some multi-purpose knives and--a key! now all I need is the lock to go with it...

Thank you Jim! What a wonderful package! with almost no residual odor!

I glad you liked them. I have a hard time finding many knives to send each year, so I try to add a personalized gift. I wanted to carve you an eagle head, but it may have been 2 months to completion, so I decided on an anvil out of a nice scrap piece I had. The knife is actual made from paint sticks and was from tracing an outline on paper and scroll sawing it out l, then some lucky dead reckoning on the blade tang. The POS exchange is always fun and a good way to get to know other members better!

You stated in your note to me that you included a "paint stick knife", but I didn't put 2 and 2 together. Didn't have a clue one what you meant by that. Now, the 'cute little knife' is even more impressive and will hold a a greater personal and special meaning to me and my wife. Thank you for clarifying how you made it. It's a work of art. And the anvil is PERFECT. You did GREAT, and I am honored to have been the recipient of your POS kindness this year. Bravo Zulu!, to you.

Glad you liked them! That RR is actually quite an early vintage for them. I recall buying it in a RR grab bag of seconds from SMKW many years ago. I don't carry them, but have hung onto them for nostalgia.

Got my shipment in from PearlGearl yesterday...

You ever have one of those days when you get home from school and your mom is cooking up something new for dinner that doesn't quite look or smell right? But when you finally sit down and try it, it actually turns out to be quite palatable? Well that's the best analogy I could muster up for this box.

The first thing that caught my attention was the abundance of mini Swiss army type knives. PearlGearl was nice enough to toss the scales in there as an afterthought, or perhaps they were fully clothed when the journey began. A nice bonus was that nearly all of them had a complete set of toothpicks and tweezers! So some of them might find a new home in my mini SAKs if they fit.

Next up were the unusual knives. A cool little Kutmaster farrier knife (first farrier for me) and a bear hunter with the weirdest looking blade I've ever seen... it must be specially designed for hunting bears I suppose.

Then we have the 3 fixer uppers. A Gerber, A Catt and A Russell! All 3 of which have great springs, snap, half stop etc. No wobble or play. They feel great. If I knew how to rehandle, I'd be quite thrilled. In fact, this box o stuff may have just motivated me to learn how.

Last, but certainly not least, were five, count them, FIVE 1990 TKCA Queen Texas Toothpicks. I am officially the proud owner of 5% of these knives, with only 100 of them made, including #100 of 100! Only some assembly is required, as they all came with shields, just not attached. But once I figure out how to wedge them back into place, they will be good as new!

I'm not sure if she remembered that I have bought some Queens off of her before (or saw my comment about Queens) or just figured these should go from one Texan to another, either way, these are right up my alley! Thanks PearlGearl!

That bear hunter looks like a cable blade for stripping cable. But maybe not. The farrier knife is a rooster nutter. A tool to turn them into capons. And 5 tiny Toothpicks. Not bad.

Received my POS box of "goodies" today - thank you Cody6268!! When he said he sent a box full, he sure'nuf meant it! I received a little bit of everything; from SAK's, to multitools, and about anything in-between; and from as far as China and Japan to the good 'ol USA. Cody - do you realize you slipped in a Moore Maker in great shape? I mean, I can send it back if that was an accident - "I can" don't mean I will, but I can.

Well the box of Asian poo from Toylvr arrived today. It’s smell reminded me of the stench coming from the dumpsters behind the local fried rice restaurant.
The Sabre has very little snap and marked China. The Wild Turkey is usable and came with a nice sheath. The wood handled one is marked Packistan and I had to use pliers to release the lock blade. I’ve deemed this knife as unusable and meets the standard of a true POS. Thank you Mike.
