Thank you Glenn! I tried to treat her with the respect she deserves as you and Tom...Charlie and everyone else will. January, as well as the past few months has been very challenging and I only wish I could of spent a little more time with pics and posts, but such is life. Happy to have been able to contribute what I could!

Wow Bryon, You put a wicked sharp edge on this knife. Amber arrived today and I am excited to use this. First thing I did was check to see if it would shave hair and sure enough it does. The edge on this looks so smooth and clean, wish I could sharpen knives this fine. Thought I would take a picture of the edge in case you can tell anything from the picture.
Amber won’t get a lot of heavy use from me. About the only time I use a knife hard is in the summer. But I’m sure I will be opening boxes and letters galore with this. You never know, something harder might come along this month.

Here’s one I thought I posted, but didn’t. Amber isn’t very lady-like…I caught her “cutting the cheese” late one night.

Cutting the cheese, that is my kind of knife!!

Amber isn’t getting much of a workout with me. This is what I used it for lately. With 12” of snow on the ground, there hasn’t been much else to do. Finally today it’s in the 40’s so hopefully we can get back to a more normal routine.
I do find this little sheepsfoot blade to be very useful for opening letters and packages. Now if I could just cut straight…

Agreed, it's more about having a good knife in your pocket ready to work. Just extra that the knife reminds you of a fallen brother.

Mark, you're not the only one buried under ice and snow. The temps here are starting to rise as well and hopefully it will melt away some of this accumulation. You could always take up whittling, sit all cozy by the fireplace and and use Amber to carve something interesting. Just a thought.

Amber has safely arrived at the next destination of her yearlong journey, and I'm truly honored and looking forward to spending the next month with her by my side. I don't imagine she'll be doing a great deal of heavy duty work this month, but she'll be in my pocket and ready to conquer all my cutting needs as they arise.

You guys have done an amazing job keeping her sharp and putting a beautiful patina on the main blade, and I can't wait to show her off for the next few weeks.

That small blade looks much too shiny next to the main blade patina, Kevin Might be time for someone to put that little guy to work so it can catch up to the big Spear and look like it belongs on the same knife!

Glad it arrived in time Kevin. I should have posted that I sent it this week. I did use the pen blade the most in the time that I had it, but it only cut envelopes and tape on boxes, nothing to add to the patina. It is still just as sharp when I sent it as it was when it arrived from Bryon. He did an amazing job on sharpening those blades. Wish I could get an edge to be that sharp every time.

Looks like Amber is getting quite the nice patina. She'a also starting to get some miles under her too!

Kevin your job now is to put some patina on the small blade. A knife
does not look it’s best if all blades don’t have use .

I was thinking the same thing about adding patina to the secondary blade when I got her. When I have time, I may go through some of Ivoryman's posts about the different methods he used. As I recall, I think cutting strawberries was one of them, David, so that may be my first option.
Amber was out with me early this morning, so I got some pictures of her after drinking my morning coffee and doing a little sightseeing on this beautiful Sunday morning.

Amber is looking fantastic, Kevin! It's evident that Mark took great care of her. Thanks for the mention on the sharpening, Mark. I'm well setup with a great guided sharpening system and top of the line hones. I'm always learning and trying different sharpening techniques and the process has always been rewarding. I agree with everyone else on the coping blade patina. She'll look better with both blades matched up. Enjoy the time with Amber and looking forward to the pics/posts!
