His Dad and Grandad both sell me knives. You should have seen him when I handed him a crisp hundred. He looked it over closely, then went proudly to Dad for change. Hope he stays with it.

Well, my haul didn't take a two-wheeler to get it loaded. Here it is a 1997 Winchester 3908... no box

May be just one, Dan, but it’s a beauty! LIKE that red!
I love this thread, but I just don’t have the luck you guys have. I was visiting in Tennessee recently and went to the local flea market. I found a table where a guy had several knives. All were used, but in maybe “good” condition. The first one I asked about was $150. The second one I asked about was $200. I didn’t ask about any more and walked away. Oh, and, no, the knives weren’t anything rare or special.

That's been my experience a lot too, Tim. So, I have to buy crappy condition good quality knives, and clean them up. Blasphemy, I know!

Tim, I have found that knives at flea markets here in TN are on the higher priced side also. But, after you get to know the sellers after a few visits to their tables, they will usually negotiate a fair price based on condition, etc. I guess it's one of those country boy things. At flea markets here, I normally only look for keepers for myself because of price. When I am looking for resale knives, I go to auctions or buy from individuals. I am fortunate there is an abundance of places to get knives here in NE TN.

When you say auctions are you talking about a specific type of auction or a general ol consignment auction?

Does anybody have an Idea what knife this could be?
Welcome Peter. I tried to enhance it a bit and rotated it a bit.
Not sure exactly, but it looks Russian to me. That's about all I can give you. Oh, and it does look pretty old.
I would post it in the "Knife lore" sub-forum. There are some very knowledgeable people over there.Knife.jpg
Thank you very much

Dan, I mostly go to general consignment or estate auctions. Most auctioneers post time/date/items on auctionzip now, whether the auction is in house only or online also. I much prefer the in house only auctions with fewer bidders/competition. People there for the furniture and jewelry, etc. rarely bid on knives.

While I was out I stopped by a favorite pawn shop but this was the only thing I found.
I had to come home with something! A Frost brand E.C. Simmons was the only one
I could see buying today.
