Thanks TopDog ... amazing what bayonets sell for now, even a replica.

on the #1 rule. Buying knives is like buying jewelry ... gotta be able to find the gem and negotiate a fair price with the jeweler.

Anxious butter-in-ers don't seem to understand this.

You said Cx3

many YEARS I SOLD OFF A BUNCH OF bayonets and now I can't replace them for anything close to what I sold them for....
I agree not too long ago they were tent stakes , little demand except for some US bayonets. Seems now that $10 bayo is $100. Hard to figure

What a great score for you, Dog, congratulations!
I spotted quite a few solid looking useable pieces in there,
Thanks M&M

, I have been working on cleaning some of them up and a few of the rustiest ones are already in a vinegar tub soaking away. One of the better scores was a Kutmaster Stockman in great shape, except for the very end/tip of the main blade busted off, but that can be reprofiled on a belt grinder w/o much loss in OAL.

....

If I was you I would just bust the entire blade off....

and then bust off the spey blade and then I would have a one bladed knife.... perfect for an M&M collector's piece!
Ooohhhh, you have no idea how may times I've thought of snapping-off blades then grinding down the "stumps" so I'd have the knife I like, but so far have only thought about it!
I forgot to ask, did you thank your dog for insisting you guys go out?

lol!

Thanks D.L. and Tim

I owe it all to my dog... I keep taking him out and finding more knives
...

My only complaint is that he is supposed to be a bird dog ...

but he hasn't come up with any Hen & Rooster, Kissing Crane or Fighting Roosters yet....

Lucky indeed, Dog!
Nice catch on all of these big honkin' bowies!
I was thinking that, if you were attacked by some angry raging animal you could use the first knife in defence, but instead of stabbing it, you could smash-chet it upside it's head!
Don't worry, I won't be here all week, bada boom!

Marco... funny you should mention the smatchet.....

I have a Boker Smatchet* .... it is absolutely awesome!

The real rare one is the Al Mar Smatchet, they seem to go for huge money

...

my buddy sold his for a ridiculous amount, years ago.

Delmar, MD roadside flea market today. $5 each, (plus a half-tank of gas!) A 4-line Camillus military style. Great snap, 3 of 4 blades perfect, but some grinder jockey did in the main blade, GRRRRRR! , and a "King Oscar Sardines" advertiser/favor with a cool sardine fork and metal inlays, by Globusmen, Germany. *They're really some of the best sardines.

J.O'.
