That's exactly what my wife (she has USPS informed delivery on her phone) says right after she asks me, " Do you have a package coming today? Did you buy ANOTHER KNIFE?" The last time she asked that(yesterday), I answered, "No. Two." She was not amused.

Oops!! ...... Well, I have a similar story to tell about being married and always buying more and more knives ..... It all started... Well ... actually maybe the easiest way to understand is to watch a few episodes ... do you have cable/satellite/dish/streaming options?

I think most would say that's a fine looking knife, Glenn, so you're not alone there, and just because you happened to find one that you're attracted to, especially under the circumstances you did, flea market right price, etc., certainly doesn't mean you've defected, but more along the lines of you got lucky or a great deal. Very nice catch!

That's a good old knife, J.O. All my research says it was made in Rhode Island by Imperial..

Thanks TMK, From the posts I've read, it looks like they were made from the 1970's. It's a good carry. Really in excellent shape. Not bad for a few bucks. J.O'.

I just received this in the mail this week from a good friend of mine who rescued it. It's been in my pocket ever since. Its the only Imperial with solid bolsters I have.

Agree on that. The quality is average. Thin blades, shoulderless grinds, etc. It's a carry. But I only gave $10 for it and I like the stockman pattern.

Here are the tang stamps up thru 1988. Yours matches the 1946-1956 tang except the “stainless.” That throws me off a bit!

His doesn't have the crown over the I, and has periods after the U.S.and A. The Imperial stamps can be tricky, Tim. I think it was a late stamp from the 70's or 80's.

I may be wrong (it does happen, but don't tell my wife! ), but I think those have a very Schrade look to them. I would almost guarantee that these are of Swinden construction. If so, would they be made under contract for Imperial?

Edit: after posting I did some more research and found this post. It seems that Imperial did obtain a Swinden setup!

That Swinden machinery at the Schrade factory is mythical. Like the fires of mount Doom, a Schrade knife could only be properly reassembled in the factory from whence it came. To know there was in fact two set ups is a departure from what I thought was established fact. How cool. I definitely would have been confused if, given enough time, I had noticed this wasn't through pinned.

...Had my eyes on these ones for a while a local shop.... I am surprised the Case XX wasn't picked up a while back...

D.L. thanks for noticing ... I am trying to bring harmony into my knife buying endeavors, by harnessing the power of "Ying and Yang"...

of course, it seems to mean I am also buying twice as many knives as I used too, ... ...maybe I need to rethink this whole "harmony" deal ....
