Booth at a local antique mall had a 50% off sale. Still a bit pricey for me, because I'm cheaper than dirt, but these made their way home with me.
The maxam is a "steak knife"
They either used to have bigger hands or bigger cows in the 70's and 80's.

This one ain't exactly a find but a gift, a NOS TB6339 SS, sowbelly from 2015. A belated birthday gift, seems we were being visited by Helene last week.

- A fine knife from a special friend!

Thank you CCC, it is a beauty!
We faired very well, only 8.9 inches of rain. We were blessed this time, nothing like the Michael hurricane in 2018! The devastation up y'all's way is devastating! Just heard where a billion dollars of the FEMA money was used for other purposes prior to hurricane season, borrowed they say.
We are praying for all involved in this tragedy all across the Southeast.
It is refreshing to see so many non-governmental disaster relief folks responding.
God bless y'all to ger through this.

I have a really similar Maxam, but it's full serrated. One weird detail I've noticed is the extended tang--it's both taller and longer than the handle. I had assumed it would maybe for hammering it through frozen stuff, but who knows.

I just found an email from Case about the new Crossroads line. Any opinions? Are they just going to be Sod Busters?

I was reading about it in Reddit today. S30v steel, micarta, wood or g-10 handles. My response was I’m glad Case is trying to stay relevant in the current market, but I’m not a super steel fan on prefer carbon knives.

From a small gun show; A Western and a Estwing hatchet for $20 each, a Norwegian (I think, maybe Swedish) brass dress knife, and two folders (Pal stockman and a Buck) out of a $5 box.____Dave

I went to an antiques street fair today. Saw a fair number of knives - a few Colonials, Imperial USA, Sabre, Old Henry, quite a few Chinese, and a lot of rough ones. I only asked the price on one that wasn’t already priced. The guy wanted $65, and it wasn’t perfect by a long shot. So, nothing I felt good about pulling the trigger on. I just don’t seem to have the luck you guys have!

The things to learn collecting knives. I found this Champagne knife today in Severna Park, MD. I looked up the company and found a New York Times obituary from June 14th, 1951 where Mr. Munson G. Shaw was a big New York wine importer who died at 73 the day before. I don't generally chase Champagne knives but it was a few bucks and I do like Mouton Cadet, so....... There's another one in the shop just like it that was a little rusty so I left it there. The knife is marked "DEPOSE" France. The word means "deposit" in English so it may be an instruction on the can piercer of the knife ? J.O'.

If the knife belonged to Munson Shaw, is Baron Rothschild associated with Mouton Cadet?
Rothschild jumped out at me for sure. I used to be pretty big into conspiracy theories....
