Bought this one from Red Trout (an AAPK member store owner) a couple of weeks ago. This is my first Canal Street, but I can tell it won't be my last one.

Scott, that Faux Tortoise Shell looks as good as the real thing - nice CS!!

Since a lot of the Schrade Cutlery employees went to work for Canal Street Cutlery, does the Canal Street stainless steel bladed knives (not including any super stainless steels like ATS34, S30V, or CM154) hold up about the same as the old Schrade+ stainless steel bladed knives? I really liked the old Schrade+ stainless steel bladed knives, they work good & hard and hold a good edge even when treated rough. I've seen a few posts on other knife forums where some people stated that C.S.C (Canal Street Cutlery) stands for "Current Schrade Cutlery". I do know Canal Street sure has some very fine looking knives.

Theoretically the steels they are using are better than the old Schrade carbon and + super steel.

Certainly, in my experience, the blades can take a bunch of abuse, and hold their edge.

Of course I'm spoiled - with my EDC (I carry a tortoise shell Cannitler) - when I'm in the factory I just hit the wheel with it every once and a while.

Another thing to consider is that Canal Street uses upgraded liners (primarily heat-treated stainless steel instead of brass), wider solid bolsters molded with upgraded 18% nickel silver (which doesn't tarnish), and wider heat treated stainless steel springs - the body/guts are more durable and won't fatigue.

They are consciously striving for better quality than a Schrade knife in every aspect of the materials used, the design, and the tooling of each knife - and the same folks that designed and tooled the Schrade production line are the ones designing and tooling Canal Street.

The 3-3/4" clip point blade is satin finished D2 at 58-60 Rc. The bolsters are nickel silver, the liners and pins are stainless and the coined Canal Street shield is brass. Measures 5" closed and weighs 5.1 oz.

Okay here's pictures of my EDC - I now sheath carry mine.
Interestingly, and pursuant to my comments above, the cannitler is one of a couple of CSC knives that does not have stainless steel liners - this is mainly because the liner needs to be crimped so that the finishing blades can go into the chamber at an angle. The overall rigidity is achieved with oversized stainless steel springs and oversized non-tarnish quality bolsters.

Just ordered this one from Drop Point Hunter here on the forum. Amber Stag Cannitler. Looking forward to getting this one. You guys and your photos and praises sold me on Canal Street.
