mitch, that was a great scene from The Getaway! Love the way old Slim walks off back to El Paso. There was another old western character actor in that movie; Dub Taylor. He was the hotel manager.Slim.

Hey orvet, I watched that scene from Blazing saddles and laughed so hard I almost fell off the chair! my wife asked me if I was still 12 years old. I told her in many ways yes, but I'm not alone. Slim.

As long as we can laugh like we are 12, we can forget our real age and hopefully a few aches & pains!

Blazing saddles was on TV last night. My Granddaughter watched it with me. Can't tell you how many times I've seen it, but it was still funny.orvet wrote:slimpickins wrote:Hey orvet, I watched that scene from Blazing saddles and laughed so hard I almost fell off the chair! my wife asked me if I was still 12 years old. trutemper, I've been struggling with myself for the past ten minutes, trying to maintain some decorum and not take that in one of several directions that would get me all jammed up here.trutemper wrote:Cuz my wife says I`m about a 65 on a Rockwell hardness scale.
I don't think I've had the opportunity to welcome you aboard. Glad you're here. Hang around. It's a great place for knife addicts to not stand out in a crowd.

Longest one day ride for me was 400 miles. From Rockford, IL to Dayton, OH. I'm no Iron Butt and I don't ride when the thermometer goes below 65 deg.

Re: YOUR USER NAME
I rode from Oregon to Santa Ana CA (MCAS El Toro) in February 1971.
18 months later I rode back out through the desert ( east towards Barstow & then north- about 700 miles).
It was the worst sun/wind burn I ever had!
Of course being a Marine I had to do things the hard way so I rode wearing just jeans, boots and a sleeveless Levi jacket with the front unbuttoned. By the time I made Oregon I was about the color of a fire truck! I got 3 bee stings along the way. I was pretty sick for a couple days. That was just before I shipped overseas.

Re: YOUR USER NAME
An old Jarhead I used to live across the street from is, as we speak, on his way back to Rockford after riding up to Glacier National Park. This is the same guy who, before his wife died, rode out west to The Grand Canyon, around and back, 5000 miles on a Fatboy. He has since added a bagger to his stable for these long trips. Last year he rode down to North Carolina and rode The Tail of the Dragon. Of course he's only 55 years old so he's really still a whipper snapper. I had a picture of him riding the Dragon but can't find it.
This is his tombstone.
