Beautiful Benchmades you guys have. I only have these two, but they are definitely right up there among my all-time favorites. I especially like the blue liners and the fancy back spring, thumb stud, button lock and rivet heads on the little winewood drop point...a very elegant little gentleman's knife. The big black Bob Lum designed knife is big, but perfectly balanced and so smooth to open, just a flick of the wrist and that big ol' blade just snaps to attention--I don't even need to use the opening hole. Love these knives...these are some that I can't imagine ever selling or trading.

Looks like a Spyderco Endura wearing a Benchmade uniform (logo). Maybe it's the same knife just playing for a different team under a new contract? (like Lebron James).

Although I can't help you with the nomenclature, history or specs, if it's anywhere near as tough as the Endura (and I expect it is), it's one helluva knife. And, as long as we're talking about Enduras (wait...were we?), all I can do is share one quick anecdote: I gave an Endura to a buddy of mine (73 yr old Vet) awhile back and he's been using it regularly (every Wednesday, from dawn to dusk) for the past 5--6 years, maintaining an ancient Hawaiian trail: clearing weeds & overgrown brush, rebuilding lava rock walls/trail reinforcement and removing invasive flora, etc. Even though the trail runs mostly next to the ocean, sometimes he has to hike into some pretty rough & remote terrain (it ain't at all like Waikiki here on the Big Island). He told me that one day he tied it to the end of a stick and used it to spear a fish, then he used it to gut and clean the fish, then used it to make shavings and a fuzz stick to start a small fire, then he carved a skewer to cook the fish over the fire, and, finally, he used it as a utensil to cut and eat the freshly cooked fish. Then, after he finished his lunch, he went right back to using it to chop weeds and dig out roots of invasive plants, etc. Sorry to get off topic, but that Benchmade looks like the type of knife that could also 'endure' that kind of (ab)use and hold up equally as well.

June, that looks exactly like my 830 Eclipse. I use mine as an around-town EDC. Super sharp ATS-34 and light weight. I clip it inside my biking shorts or in my jeans watchpocket. ::tu::

I picked up this fixed blade from Midway USA on clearance;

Hoping the S30V doesn't disappoint, Kydex sheath too. Can't seem to go wrong with Benchmade USA.

Na, just regular nylon shorts I bike in, not n#t huggers. Looks like 4 3/4" on the folder. Yours could be a 830S.

Yes, that would probably make a difference. But aside from the serrations our knives look like twins.

I got a new favorite EDC in a trade with Gino.
I got a 710 in the box with an aftermarket clip on it.
Benchmade 710 a.jpg
Benchmade 710 b.jpg
I love this knife and the CPM D2 steel is awesome!
I may get a deep pocket clip for it, but other than that it is about perfect for what I carry it for; one hand deployment and heavy duty cutting.

Thanks Gino, I love the trade! ::ds::
