Sure been hot last couple of days, makes my mind want to think about icy water and waterfowl! Of course dove hunting, hot as it can be, is the ceremonial opening of fall and hunting season - and it is only three months away!

Guys, as my AAPK nickname implies I love to hunt, so don't egg me on or I will share my entire hunting album with you! Did I mention I love to talk about, write about, and dream about going hunting?? Treefarmer, that picture was taken in eastern Arkansas this past winter on 14 JAN after a morning hunt in the brush on the edge of a flooded field - you see Shelly (my cigar chumping buddy Jim's, chocolate lab) retrieving a duck from. We were on an old farm road south of Brinkley near the Cache River, getting ready to clean those ducks after a good morning out gunning, and then begin the drive home to eastern NC (a day and a half drive, minus the time spent at Bass Pro and the Smoky Mountain Knife Works). In the top picture the white rectangular form directly on the left is part of an abandoned mobile home that was a farm office at one time, the other structure that is right behind the mobile home is part of an old barn or pack house that is in pretty bad repair.

Ps There is a deer stand in the bottom picture on the far side of the flooded field, they hunt deer in that beanfield until duck season, then flood it and hunt ducks.

Before the floods come I hit the river for a little trout fishing by this time today we've had 5" of rain

I got some much needed R&R this past weekend. We took a little weekend excursion to Waitsboro campground on Lake Cumberland in Somerset Ky. Pics show my little camping rig and a couple views of the lake from our campsite. Geez, we had a good time!!!

Just got back from Santee Cooper Lakes, for a day of, fishing for the big ""CATS""___didn't get any of the ""monsters"" but we caught 19,yesterday in the rain ( 8 of em' were 11 to 17 lbs.)____fished for bass about three hours,this morning (only caught 1 small 2 lber' ) before heading home,in the rain!!!! ____rained,most of the two days, we were there,but my fishing buddy Craig, his grandson Austin, and I, all had a "'GREAT TIME"" !!!! ____ a few photos to share with you guys !!!

Those are going to make a GREAT fish fry ::tu::Do you guys nail the heads to a tree to skin those cats,thats how we do Hornpout

Well in 39yrs in the trade this is the first year of spring unemployment but the spring fishing has been GREAT In these pic's is a Sebago Landlock Salmon and a Sebago brookie for which I haven't seen on the south end of the lake in years

Just got home from settin' crawdad traps. I snagged these 2 and about a half dozen 6 inchers while I was there. My record for these is eleven inches and nine inchers are fairly common. We'll see what's in the traps in the mornin'.

Never in my lifetime have I heard of crawdad traps! Never have I seen 7 or 9" crawdads.

Tell us more please.
