I sold some knives recently.

With the knives, I packed some 4x4 gauze pads and a Band-Aid.

There used to be an individual at knife shows that passed out business cards at his table. On the back, was attached a Band-Aid.

Warm weather and beer, Jerry...warm weather and beer. I've seen people fall off bicycles under the same influence. :(
Normally, I would agree with you 100% but considering the individuals who have recently drawn blood, I'm going to go with no. However, sometime you might ask me about the ground bees and black powder incident. ::oh_my::

Whenever I get a knife back from Bob P (Elvis) he includes a band-aid as a reminder that the knife has been sharpened. At first I thought it was a cute notion but over time I've come to respect the reminder, thank you Bob!

Sounds to me like an old squid that's told so many sea stories himself that he doubts the veracity of a fine upstanding, honest Marine. ::uc::

No, it's more of a "Hey! Hold my beer and watch this." story. In fact, that's exactly what it is.

Here's some of that repartee you're missing albeit Army style...

In the late 60's Raleigh cigarettes were running TV ads about the coupons that came with each pack of cigarettes. The commercials were varied but always showed somebody involved with something and then, with a bystander watching, they'd remove the coupon from the cigarette pack and stick in their pocket or whatever. The bystander would ask if they saved those coupons and there would be a patent reply of "Sure. How do you think I got....?" and they'd display some power tool or something.

And so it was a hot sunny day in Vietnam in this FSB and I was sitting under a stretched out poncho liner enjoying the shade and writing a letter home when Craig Comly (my squad leader) came ambling by and squatted down to visit. He was wearing his "Lawrence of Arabia" motif at the time; his towel on his head held in place by some sort of headband or something.

We had just got resupplied with clean uniforms, sundry packs, ice, sodas and whatnot so this was one of those banner days to guys out in the boonies. The sundry packs (just a cardboard box about 18x18x18 inches in size if I recall correctly) contained useless thin, white socks, tablets, envelopes, offbrand candy that looked familiar but tasted quite different from what it was posing to be and several cartons of the less popular brands of cigarettes. Marlboros (my brand) were never, ever in the sundry packs so I'd wait until the wanted ones were snatched up and then grab a leftover carton as a "just in case" backup. On this particular resupply day I had acquired a carton of Bel Air menthol cigarettes and, after stashing the remainder of the carton in my rucksack, had actually opened a pack. The thought of this was in hopes that the menthol cigarette would offset the this-is-so-wrong flavor of the Wink soda I had been blessed with. I had originally grabbed a can of some offbrand rootbeer but, after Lloyd Collins had passed by, the rootbeer had turned into a can of Wink. Such was life around Lloyd.

As Craig squatted there and I opined about the next phrase of enlightenment I was about to set forth on paper I picked up the pack of Bel Air smokes, slipped one out and was about to light it when Craig asked "Do you save those coupons?" pointing to the one still inside the cellophane wrap of the pack. "Sure I do.", I replied. "How do you think I got this brand new uniform?". In exchange I received a blank look, an awkward pause and then Craig got up and moved on to the next bunker.

I don't think I've ever seen an aspersion. What do they look like? Where are they from? Do they bite?

They don't bite but they do occasionally hurt and you can find them on Google.

Wow, there's a throwback (for me, anyway).

When I was a kid Dad smoked Raleigh and Mom smoked BelAir.
We must have had thousands of those coupons rubber banded around the house.
I don't recall what or if they ever got anything for them . . . .
