So that's where that set went. I was eyeballing it, and poof it was gone. Beautiful set. Congrats.

When I was digging through my Tuna Valley knives I came across the Canal Street knives I picked up right when I heard they were closing shop. Really well-built and quality knives.

You've got some great knives there. You've even got a couple I haven't seen before.

I have the Ring Opener as well. Got it when they first came out. I think it was a BladeForums SFO ?

Have to see a pic of that. Those were real nice with stag scales I believe. Might be wrong.

I did not know the BF Ring Opener had stag handles. Nicely hafted as well with thin slabs of stag. On this knife "thick stag" would have made it look like a block.
Were there just the 2 handle types, jigged bone & stag, for this knife ?

Roland I have Canal Street Ring Pull knives handled in Ebony, Amber Jigged Bone, Paua Shell, Sambar Stag, and Blue Jigged Bone. I'm not sure what other handle material Canal Street may have used on this pattern.

Phil I think you've pretty much got all of them. The only other two I can think of are the smooth sunset bone and smooth ram's horn. Of course I may be forgetting a couple. There was also a sterling silver bolstered sambar stag model, I think done for A G Russell if I'm not mistaken. I've got one of them around here somewhere.

Roland they certainly seem to be. They definitely don't show up for sale very often. It's quite unique in that no other company in recent years has made the pattern with the exception of Canal Street.

My latest Canal Street additions are not Canal Streets, they're Red Trout knives. Even so, given their bloodline, I think they'll fit perfectly into my Canal Street collection.

1967redrider... that's a mighty fine grouping you have there... the abalone handled one really stands out!...
Really neat looking at all the ring openers...
Phil... never heard of Red Trout... I assume they were made by CS?
Yesterday, I visited the Wawarsing Historical Society and Knife Museum for the first time this season. They done a great job revamping the displays... a guide goes around with you from showcase to showcase explaining how each fits into the history of American made knives. Ended up spending longer there than expected!

AND I even came home with this Canal Street stockman from their "store"...

The Red Trout knives were are a special order made by Eric Albers (ea42) who worked for Canal Street Cutlery and is now making knives for the Canal Street Co-op. Red Trout is the "alias" used by Richard Lanigan, a fellow AAPK member and Canal Street fan, who had these knives made. Below is a link to a recent thread which discusses these knives in some detail.

Here is a CSC "Union Razor" knife i was lucky enough to buy. Marked "Prototype" on bolster in place of a serial number. I did not buy it because of the "Prototype" marking. I bought it because i think it is a most attractive knife and because it was made by Canal Street Cutlery. It is my first knife with the Blue Rope bone handles.
