All About Pocket Knives

Just a simple, bare-bones little user for today's knife guys! This one is 8 1/4" oal/all black SS bayonet blade with n/n, all black SS through construction body, SS screws and adjustable pivot, and slip-joint action. All that steel gives this knife a pleasant weight of about 4 oz.'s, and very sharp. It's only 5/8" at the widest point, and has smooth walk and loud talk. The knife is unmarked, but coming from China it's safe to assume it was built there! Happy New Year, and all the best to my friends at AAPK! See ya'll next year! Mark!

Simple says it all. That one is very basic but such a nice design to it. Reminds me of some Al Mar designs.

I wanted to start the new year with a spring in my step, and what better way to do that than with my Ganzo F707 auto! Measures 8" oal/440C SS bayonet blade featuring choils and dual-flippers, all SS body with through construction and dark wood inlays, recessed button, adjustable pivot, pocket-clip, and BO/BC coil-spring action. A well suited weight of about 5 oz.'s, and only the bottom edge is sharpened. Covered in Ganzo/Firebird markings, and made in China. Every time I pull this knife out, I like it more than the last! A really fun knife! HNY everyone!

I’m going to have to keep an eye out for a Ganzo. That looks pretty nice.

The comfort knife that I have is the one on top, it’s a Boker that I had customized by Muskrat Man. What it looked like before is the white one next to it. This is Amboynia wood for the handles. This is thinner than the original knife as you can see in the spine to spine comparison. It also shows the run up is pretty tight on these. These knives are made by Boker from parts made in other countries with final assembly in Germany. You can tell by the lack of COO on the tang stamp and the price of these is pretty reasonable. These carry a lifetime warranty just like the knives made in Germany.
I keep holding onto the white bone handled one thinking I might have another one customized, but probably won’t. The release mechanism on this after the customization is so hard that I simply use it as a fixed blade. It does feel comfortable in hand and makes for a very good user. Love the wooden handles on this.

I've been eye-balling the original white one for some time now. They just have that look of a well built knife. Beautiful customization by Muskrat Man. I saw a Browning knife on ebay recently that has a similar appearance to the custom, with similar covers and bolsters, but yours is definitely nicer. Really like the wooden handles! My favorite Ganzo! Not much for a user in my opinion but it sure is a looker.

Perhaps cutting some string, opening a letter or a box, but not too much beyond that. They do look good though, and the "click therapy" factor is definitely there!

I think Muscrat man did a superb job on your Boker, Mark. The wood is beautiful of course and I really like the worked bolsters.

Thanks Garry, it is a great looking knife and it does have a great in hand feel. The bolsters add to that feel.

Today's choice is this Grand Way big, beefy linerlock folder! A 9" oal solid knife/440C SS drop-point blade with long fullers, SS bolsters and liners, brass pins, black ABS covers, adjustable pivot, and no pocket-clip as it came with a quality leather sheath. Has a hefty 8+ oz. weight, and razor-sharp. Has the Grand Way logo and name front tang etch, but otherwise unmarked. A real workhorse of a knife!

Yes I do Garry! It's smooth with no rough edges and quite pleasing to hold! If I had a complaint it would be that the liner that locks the blade sticks out from the frame too much, so my 1st finger sits on it when I'm holding the knife, but it's also smooth so I can easily overlook that issue. Do you have one that you're not pleased with?

Here's what sitting in front of me as I type; Case Twin Finn set (just finished cleaning them up earlier).
2 very comfortable, and slender, desk knives.

The swell is more-or-less like evenly matched stag covers Garry! I added another pic trying to show the swell!

That is a big knife Mark. Not sure what I could find to do with that knife or style of knife. It looks like it is just made for slicing. Looks like it could handle breaking down cardboard boxes.

Yep, it's a big boy Mark!

But you know how I feel about BIG, the BIGGER the better! And I agree wholeheartedly, it would make short work of a cardboard box!

This base model folder is my knife for today guys! Similar in design to the Schrade that TMK just posted, this Rite Edge lockback is 8 1/2" oal/SS clip-point blade with n/n, SS bolsters and liners, brass pins, black/white ringed Pakkawood covers, and a lanyard hole. About 4 oz.'s, and nice n' sharp. Came with a leather belt sheath. Has R/E markings. Made in China, but solid just the same! A very good EDC user!
