Mr Vincent(Orvet) Your pile O' crap arrived. It was wrapped so well I had to sharpen my GEC to get into it. As the photo shows your generosity included a very nice Schrade+ in a leather case. The new double loop and Sharpener were probably beyond generosity, but very much appreciated. The rest of the lineup really does have a smell. I suspect they are remnants of prior POS round tables, because a respectable knifer would not have sh-- like that just hanging around contaminating your keepers. Whew! I am well armed for the nexr POS RT. The Brass Lock back which doesn't lock was so bad even the Paki's wouldn't stamp it. I thank you and appreciate your humor and kindness.

My sicere apologies to apong, i finally made it to the
post office today. Package headed your way, got a tracking
number somewhere. Had to move again last week while
working, trying to keep my wife happy

jerry you hit the nail squre on the head,,,i got your package today.
it lives up to the post i did in the original pos request lineup. the reason i didn't want to join in this swap from the beginning. the postal service made out better than the contents of the package.
but do not be alarmed or bothered in any way. you followed the rules just like a true marine... to the letter.
although that $20 knife must have either fallen out or its still on your desk and was inadvertantly forgotten to be included in the package. i know zilcth about buck creek but i think that the camillus may have saved it for you.
but when it is all said and done,, its the thought that counts

Don't let him fool ya Chet, he pulled those out of his "vintage" roll. That's the kind of stuff they collect in Rockford, IL.

The Buck Creek is supposed to be German made, from everything I've been able to find out about them and almost all the whittlers go for $20-$30 on eBay. Depending on handle material, some go for more and once in a great while a little less. The Camillus was rehandled by (I think) Whitebuffalo58 and was a bonus in what I considered the good section.

If you want your contribution back, let me know and I'll send it back unopened. I don't want anyone feeling like I've screwed them. Feel free to keep what you got with no hard feelings.

Yeah, the Buck Creek whittler is $20.00+ Just did a search on completed listings SOLD and the lowest one sold for $23.00.

jerry, now don't you go and get all sourpuss on me cause of my post. i thought we kidded each other to know that we are always within our bounds to elbow each other. sorry if you misread the satirical irony in what i wrote.
i am not feeling like i got screwed nor do i have any hard feelings. after all this is a pos swap. and you did great. i am very happy that you went to the extreme you did with that package. i truely did and do enjoy everything about it.
now settle down before the whole tribe gets worked into a frenzy and someone will have to call in the troops.

I'm so embarrassed. In my own defense Chet, for some reason I can't figure out, I'm just a half a bubble off kilter today. I know I was insecure about the $20 knife portion to begin with so maybe that's it. I guess I just needed a few more smiley faces. We're fine. I'm good, you're good.

That's OK Glenn. When I add your POS (Pile of S**t) to my already in-hand POS (Pile of Stuff) it will end up looking like the old shell game and it will be hard to pick the pea out of the POS. (Normally it's corn but corn doesn't fit with the shell game). Man, I swear that I chewed that corn up last night!!

i just did the ebay check on that, previously unknown buck creek knife, and the whittlers are taking in 20$ or more. some up to 40. not that i ever intend to sell it
but thats just the cream. i got a kick out of that sharp, especially since we talked about it right after you acquired it. now if i can figure a way to secure the missing pins, i'll make it work again for its supper.

Well, my package from oldgoat1911 arrived today.
He had don an excellent job of disguising it as real mail and it was wrapped around 2 or 3 times with shipping tape, probably to hold the odor in. I must say it worked pretty well, ……until I got it on my work bench and opened it up.
The only thing that saved me was that I had my respirator near by! Now I need to replace the canisters on my respirator, ‘cause I am sure they are full now! There was the obligatory no name stainless steel cheepie that walks and talks like a roller skate with 2 wheels.
No fine POS collection would be complete without a second frrm that famous maker, Stan something or other, oh, wait a minute, Stan Pachmayr, er, no that is it……………
I got it Paki Stan! The large knife that looks like it should be a lockback (but isn’t), it must be a second from Paki Stan because there is no name or country stamped on the knife.
Peeeuuuuwhee! What a stinker, it smells so bad so bad even Paki wouldn’t put his name on it! The third POS is an ancient POS Classic (if there is such a thing as Classic POS). Probably made in the late 1950s to 1960s. The guys who are about 55+ years old probably remember the old Globemaster tool bins at all the cut rate stores back in the ’60s. Globemaster tools were about 99¢ and the early ones were made in Japan. There were screwdrivers that the tip would break off of the first time you used it, squares that weren’t (square), and all sorts of cheap junk tools, I have even seen some Globemaster bait knives, (wouldn't take an edge and wouldn't hold it). But never before have I seen such a classic POS as this nifty little Globemaster pen knife! See the tang stamp? I didn’t even know they HAD a tang stamp let alone made a folding knife! And lest you think it actually works…….
The master blade will lay down on either side of the pen blade. And the steel? I think it is left over from salvaged Japanese Zero fighter planes from WW II. You know the unsuccessful Kamikaze pilots. This knife is a classic, vintage, antique POS!!! I love it! How sick am I?

Now, Oldgoat out did himself on the POS knives, but he did just as good on the good knife part of this roundtable! We sent me a perfectly good Wenger SAK. I mean “Hey, what is not to like about a SAK?” Throw it in the glove box, tackle box, tool pox, camping gear or where ever and when you need a knife, there it is, SAK!

Now for the coup de grâce, a CAMILLUS!!!!!!!!
And not just any old Camillus but a Yello-Jaket #707, double lockback, copperhead trapper with one serrated blade! Definitely over the more than $20 mark! The only other one I could find sold on ebay recently for just shy of $50! Not only that it is a Camillus (a brand I collect) it is a pattern I did not have!

dale, oldgoat did you good. i like the way you presented those goods. that camillus is outstanding. i have that same paki-stan cigar band type knife, only in the clasp style. i bought it on looks without knowing the maker. damm, they do a good job of copying knives. too bad they didn't do the same for copying the quality too.

After packing up in Raleigh, and driving all night Sunday, and all day Monday to return home to knife land, I didn't think I would make it to the PO Monday evening - but I skidded to screeching stop at 4:58pm in front of the PO and nearly hit Bill Tocherman, our local baker who was also making a last ditch effort to bust in there before closing. Of course we had to chat - and I had to apologize for nearly mowing him down - and then politely untangle and race to the box. I opened it and there was one of those yellow slips int here. As I pulled it out of the box the roll down gates start careening down at the window.

"Hey, I got a package," I yelled out.
"You wanna give it to him?" I heard inside.
"Come on now in there - I was here fair and square," I egged them.
"Okay, one second, come to the side door," said our postman Frank.

and he opens the door and brings out stinkbug's pos.

I must say it was innocuous - no smell - he must wrapped it well in a that standard small priority box - but dang it was as heavy as a brick, and no rattle. What kinda knives weigh 2 lbs? ….

I was out of pocket for a bit, but managed to make it back to a package from Timf600 for the POS table. Tim did an excellent job, fellers. Take a look. I've never had a challenge, and now I own the finest POS there is.
Now the Case, Tim told me he read posts I made, and rightly figured out I like Case peanuts. He sent that beauty. I'll have to research it, but it's glorious, and I'm not sure I'll use it, its so pretty.

All in all, a grand time. Thanks Philco, thanks AAPK. Thanks Tim!

Okay. The day finally arrived. Stinkbug has been warning me about all the stinky he's sending me, and I believe him - yes I do. So I wakes up this morning, remembering jus how I had nearly run over my neighbor Bill the Baker last night to just get this package as the PO was closing and a glowering look from Frank the postman.

I let Mrs Hunter leave the house first and captured the sanitation station with the strongest sanitizer I could muster up.


I grab my favorite stall knife - perfect for cutting and picking crap


and jump in to do the dirty deed with no fear (silly person that I am)


And I open this two pound tiny box - and guess what - there was no smell. That tricksy little Stinkbug had me fooled (or so I thought). So I carries the heavy little brick up to the Knife room to start unpacking.


What could be so heavy? Unpacking begins: First Out- What else a SAK Box


Next Out: Yikes! Look Out! Theres an Ozark Special with fleas. Anyone hear banjo music?


An then: Yikes! a heavy POS - A looonnng knife with no handle


Then #4 a well wrapped piece comes out


Lastly, there is a faint stink coming from a thick brick of wittle knives - all strapped together in bubble wrap
