Today I’d like to make a shout out to a customer, David, who modifies his Douk Douk series knives.
Unfortunately David suffers from arthritis and the strong backspring of the Douk Douk makes it hard for him to open.
Undeterred, David affixes wooden scale on the sides for a better grip.
He recently purchased a Vendedouk from my store and fitted it with stained tiger maple sides, and I think it looks great!

Yes indeed, Stephane, those new covers put the current Douk Douk knives in a whole other league, they DO look great! And I can instantly see how they would make the knife easier to open for David or anyone else who has the problem of hard opening folders.
I have admired the Fred Perrin Vendedouk knife picture at the bottom of your shot and you sell in you store for sometime. But any pictures I've seen make that knife look very thin, and I like my knives to feel "fat" in my hand so it feels substantial, and with those new wooden covers they certainly appear to plump up it's profile, so it might not be too long before I pull the trigger now.
A smashing new appearance on an older vintage knife, you'd a thunk it!
