You got an Ohta? That takes my breath away. Is it as beautiful in the hand as it is in pictures or don't you have it yet?

Yeah, but keep in mind that we're dealing with THE BUANA-SIMBA of the North here. Let's talk this over first.

This one does not have very fancy bolsters, but its handled in Mammoth Ivory.
It is made by Hiroaki Ohta.

Is that the same as "Swan Works Germany"?

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Thank you IM, I do like these old knives.
Tom, I didn't equate the two stamps. I was hoping this was entirely U.S.A. made. Thanks.
That long cresent nail pick on the main should be a hint of something, but I dont know how to interpret that.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Hey Joe, I was just asking for my own benefit. Swan Cut. Co. may be an entirely different company from Swan Works Germany. From the ones I've seen (bought) the Swan Works Germany have been pretty crappy knives. Nothing even close to the appearance of your knife. I'm sure not saying that they are the same.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Hi Tom,
I have never seen a Swan Works Germany.
Goins dosen't offer anything on Swan Cutlery, N.Y.
It is a pretty well made knife.
The bone covers and that long cresent are good clues for these sages that lurk here.
Maybe someone will know about the knife.
I wanted it because of the covers and Goins didn't have any thing on it and it was cheap.
I didn't have to keep throwing money at it.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Swan Germany was a Kastor brand, all I know about it. I had a couple of the Swan Works Germany knives but I guess I passed them out in the POS RT or threw them away.

Not much on synthetic handles but I kinda like those, and they marry very well with the knife
