Show Us Your Camillus Knives!

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I'm not exactly sure....
My first impression is that this is an older knife.
I see that it looks like (maybe) a long line under the "CAMILLUS" name.

I haven't really tried to figure it out beyond that since I don't have it in hand yet.

Bingo. Long line.

If you enlarge a picture by clicking on it a couple of times and you still can't quite make out what you're looking at, do this.
Hold down either Control Key "Ctrl" and roll the roller wheel on your mouse forward until you get it to the size that suits you (rolling it back towards you makes the picture smaller). You can go directly back to standard view by holding down either "Ctrl" key and hitting the zero key on the top row of your keyboard. ('0' on the ten key pad won't work)
If you're not on a PC, I don't know what to tell you. You may just be SOL. ::shrug::

These arrived this morning. A CAMILLUS 14, 2 blade pocket knife. It is in NEAR MINT condition. It came in the box pictured below. The seller thought that the CAMILLUS 14 went with this box. The box is for a CAMILLUS 165 and it has the steel sharpening rod. It doesn't have the sharpening instructions on the bottom panel. But what it does have, and it wasn't pictured by the seller, is "SEASONS GREETINGS" on each side panel. It also has "To" and "From" on the bottom panel. I took some pictures and here they are.

I just bought this "knife" for best offer. It's a CAMILLUS, single blade, two tools, "Sunshine Biscuits" (shield) pocket knife. Besides the blade, the tools are supposed to be a cap lifter/bottle opener and a can opener. It looks like it's a 3 or 4 line tang stamp. I don't know what I'm going to do with it. But when it arrives, it'll get a helluva cleaning. Per the seller, the tools are rusted shut. Here it is, not my pictures.

Thank you Richard. A re-handle job is in this knife's future. Along with rust removal and freeing up the tools.::tu::

Picked up this 68 Stockman with a punch, I think it dates from the 60's to early 70's, wonder when Camillus stopped using the spiral punch if ever.

Thanks, I looked for other examples and they do not appear to be all that common. I did find one or two earlier examples with bone handles.

Now THAT right there is gonna be a NICE one when it is all cleaned up and a new set of covers installed.

I like those spiral punches... I have no idea when they stopped making them. I sure do hate it that they stopped!

Thank you Mike. ::tu:: I don't have the knowledge to restore this, or any other knife. I may be able to take it apart. I may be able to remove SOME of the rust. But to clean everything, put new handles on it and reassemble the knife, the biggest virtue that I'm lacking is PATIENCE. I have absolutely none. What will happen, after much swearing and throwing of temper tantrums, is that this knife will end up at the bottom of the lake. I may try to have it restored by one of the VERY talented AAPK artisans.

Well, "it" arrived today. A CAMILLUS, 4 line, single blade, 2 tool, "Sunshine Biscuits" pocket knife. It doesn't look any better in my hands than it did in the seller's pictures (top of this page). I did manage to get the tools to open and close from being rusted shut. I'm only adding the two pictures for now.
To be continued......maybe. ::shrug::

Ok. This is as far as I dare go with this pocket knife and still maintain. Here's the deal. I would like one of the AAPK artisans to put handles on this pocket knife. It's a CAMILLUS, 4 line tang stamp, single blade, 2 tool, "Sunshine Biscuits" pocket knife. Obviously I'll pay for shipping both ways, for any materials and of course, for your time and effort. I'd like to reuse as much of this knife as possible. Handle material can be discussed. If you are interested, PLEASE PM me and ONLY if you're in the lower 48 states. Thank you, Skip.
A couple of the "before" pictures are two posts above this one.
