Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
My oldest son works for Freeport McMoran. Copper and gold mining company. Did logistics before and he got to ride on the FPMM train that takes the product out to the main line where UP picks it up. Can’t get the video to post. Took a couple pictures off of the video. He also got too see the BigBoy up and personal in Tucson.

Nice picture of Kankakee TS. Nice belt buckles also. Didn’t make it to Union over the weekend kid and I tried to shoot some Doves today not many to shoot at.

Nice picture Ike,
When I used to travel to Plainfield every day. 2003-2019 in the years before and a little after 08. I would get stopped in Elburn Il waiting for the east bound 135 car coal trains always kind of amazed me. Then they dwindled. Now when you go west of there nothing but birds of prey killing wind mills.

I would like to see accurate numbers of birds killed by windmills on an annual basis, including breakdown by species. It is something that most (news sources) choose to ignore.

I heard not sure if it is true the big big government gives them permits that allows for killing Birds of Prey.

According to an extensive article by Knowable Magazine, bird fatalities due to wind turbines are in the hundreds of thousands. For birds of prey, especially eagles there is a restrictive number but the government increases the permitted number when the operators ask. Worse, it is estimated that close to a million bats are killed annually.

Awesome pictures, gents!
Don't get me started on windmills. They should plant several next to Joebama's Delaware home. He'd probably ask, "who planted the daisies?"

I thought the depot may have been Plainfield but when I google earthed it I could see it was not. Caught some smallmouth on the Dupage river by the Plainfield depot they have a caboose and box car by that one.
Thanks for the pictures Ike.

Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
I was in Plainfield about 5 years ago, and was amazed at the growth in that area, nice to know that you can still catch fish there. There are some nice rivers in the Northern part of the state.

Good morning train and knife folk.
Let me start by saying I was not paying attention.
I just walking outside in Geneva il, I hear a helicopter no big deal and then to my surprise I hear a STEAM WHISTLE.
The UP big boy is on the move it just went within a mile as the crow flies from my work.
Too late for me but maybe not for some of you.
Google it and please post a picture if you get one. Talking with the better half and she could hear it on my phone. I will still try and have a good week.

We were hoping to get to see the depot and train museum in Bay Saint Louis but Francine but a stop to that. Here's a photo of a train taken of a train on the bay bridge in the rain as we were leaving ahead of the storm.
